Business Development Manager - Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Business Development & Market Expansion
Identify and develop new business opportunities for BESS across residential, commercial & industrial (C&I) and utility-scale.
Build and maintain relationships with utilities, developers, EPC companies, consultants, and government bodies.
Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for storage products, services, and solutions.
Track policy developments, tenders, and market trends to forecast demand and position offerings.
Sales & Commercial Enablement - Lead end-to-end sales process from lead generation to contract closure.
Prepare techno‑commercial proposals, RFQ responses, tender documentation, and pricing strategies.
Conduct customer presentations, solution pitches, and competitive assessments.
Negotiate commercial terms in alignment with internal legal, finance, and technical teams.
Partnerships & Ecosystem Development : Develop partnership with: -Indian EPC players,Battery OEMs (LFP/NMC),PCS/EMS vendors
Technical & Solution Expertise
Collaborate with engineering teams to design optimal BESS solutions tailored to customer requirements.
Understand battery chemistries, inverter technologies, EMS platforms, and safety standards.
Provide inputs for cost estimation, system sizing, and solution differentiators.
Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
Identify and onboard technology partners, OEMs, integrators, and channel partners.
Foster alliances for financing, EPC execution, and turnkey delivery of energy storage projects.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting : Work with cross-functional teams.Prepare business forecasts, pipeline reports, market intelligence briefs, and performance dashboards.Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the BESS business portfolio.
Experience
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in renewable energy, energy storage, power systems, or related industries.
- Demonstrated success in sales or business development for BESS, solar, EPC, power equipment, or grid solutions.
- Experience working with utilities, government tenders, or large infrastructure clients is advantageous.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering/mechanical engineering, Energy Systems, or related field.
- MBA in Marketing/Strategy (preferred but optional).

Revenue growth & order intake for BESS business. Pipeline generation & conversion rate. Strategic partnerships established. Tender wins & customer satisfaction. Market share expansion in the storage segment
Skill & Competencies
- Strong understanding of BESS technologies, system architecture, and applications.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer relationship management skills.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and develop techno-commercial proposals.
- Strong analytical mindset and strategic thinking.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving energy market environment.
- High proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, and business planning frameworks.
