Lead genset product design and development to meet performance and safety standards, including canopy, silencer, fuel tank, and base frames. Oversee sheet metal part design and optimize production efficiency. Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and ensure product reliability through comprehensive testing. Manage certification processes and ensure compliance with quality management systems. Drive prototyping, handle design iterations, and maintain GD&T standards. Implement value engineering initiatives for cost reduction without compromising quality. Ensure compliance with Powerol NPD processes and drive continuous field quality improvements. |
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in product engineering and application development within the power generation or related industries. Demonstrated expertise in mechanical design, prototyping, and validation of genset components is essential. Experience should include:
- Hands-on experience with canopy, silencer, fuel tank, and base frame design, including sheet metal fabrication techniques and manufacturing process knowledge.
- Proven ability in interpreting and converting customer requirements into functional and producible product specifications.
- Strong background in engine integration, specifically diesel and gas engine systems within genset applications.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and participation in ISO/internal audits.
- Experience managing regulatory certifications such as ARAI certification and Type Approval procedures.
- Skilled in advanced design methodologies including GD&T, DFMEA, DFS, and DFA.
- Track record of executing value engineering projects resulting in measurable cost savings and product standardization benefits.
- Solid knowledge of national and international standards relevant to power generation equipment.
- Experience in leading new product development initiatives from conceptualization through to volume production and market launch.
In addition to technical skills, candidates should demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, project management expertise, and effective communication skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
Industry Preferred
This role is optimally suited for professionals with prior experience in industries related to power generation equipment, engine manufacturing, or heavy machinery. Preferred industry backgrounds include:
- Power generation and energy systems manufacturers, specifically those specializing in genset and engine solutions.
- Automotive component engineering, particularly in engine systems integration and exhaust technology.
- Heavy equipment and industrial machinery design and manufacturing industries.
- Companies involved in sheet metal fabrication and industrial product design.
- Organizations with stringent quality and regulatory compliance standards, such as ISO certification holders in power or automotive sectors.
Experience in these sectors enables familiarity with industry challenges and equips candidates with the ability to innovate and maintain competitive advantage through technology and design excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a closely related field.
- Advanced certifications or training in GD&T, product lifecycle management (PLM) software, or quality management systems are advantageous.
- Proficiency in CAD software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA for detailed design and simulation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal working, welding, and assembly techniques.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to power generation equipment such as ISO, IEC, and ARAI certification norms.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving cross-functional teams and deliver results within schedule and budget.
Candidates with additional qualifications in project management or quality assurance will be well-positioned to excel in this role.
