Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
The role of PPl - Sheet Metal MStar Platform involves comprehensive ownership of deliverables within the tractor parts development domain, ensuring smooth project progression from inception to completion. Key responsibilities require meticulous project management and interdepartmental coordination, involving technical signoff procedures, synthesis of supplier quotations, and strict adherence to project timelines to guarantee successful execution.
Project Management and Coordination:
- Lead feasibility studies and rigorous risk assessments to validate project viability and align with production targets.
- Ensure precise technical signoff at each project stage, verifying compliance with design and manufacturing requirements.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to synchronize activities and resolve issues promptly.
Cost, Quality, and Delivery (QCD):
- Manage material cost targets proactively, optimizing expenditures without compromising quality.
- Oversee quality assurance protocols to ensure parts meet or exceed established industry standards and customer expectations.
- Evaluate tooling feasibility, manufacturability, and supplier's manufacturing capabilities to sustain on-time delivery schedules.
Process and Compliance:
- Adhere to Manufacturing Process Development System (MPDS) gateways, ensuring completion of PPAP/PSW processes by delivery teams.
- Collaborate with Centers of Excellence (COEs) to align technical standards and comply with regulatory requirements and safety protocols.
Capacity and Volume Planning:
- Align part production capacity with forecasted volume demands, coordinating with design teams to deliver first-time-right components.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive project Management Information Systems (MIS), analyzing data for insightful progress reporting.
- Prioritize and monitor High Impact High Risk (HIHR), Medium Impact Medium Risk (MIMR), and Low Impact Low Risk (LILR) issues with delivery teams, ensuring timely resolution.
Support and Collaboration:
- Engage with Home Commodity teams to secure timely support for task completion.
- Assist COEs in technical sign-offs and escalations when necessary.
Use of discretion & escalation:
- Escalate issues to Central Project Head (CPH) through Project Process Head (PPH) in case of delayed Statement of Requirements (SOR) releases.
- Notify PPH and Commodity Head for delayed part development to mitigate bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with Design Team and PPH regarding Operational Readiness Check (ORC) issues linked to Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
This position demands a proactive approach to project delivery, thorough understanding of sheet metal components in tractor manufacturing, and a commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Experience
Applicants should possess 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in tractor parts development, specifically with expertise in sheet metal components and the MStar platform. Experience should include leading complex projects from concept through to delivery, with demonstrable success in managing cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record in the tractor manufacturing sector, contributing to development of high-performance sheet metal parts.
- Exposure to proprietary component engineering and electrical & electronics commodity integration is highly advantageous.
- Experience in collaboration with COEs and suppliers, ensuring technical compliance and efficiency.
- Strong background in managing cost, quality, and delivery within project constraints.
The candidate should demonstrate familiarity with engineering standards, feasibility studies, process compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to tractor component development. Experience with project management methodologies and tools that facilitate risk assessment, resource planning, and quality assurance will be integral to success.
Industry Preferred
The preferred industry background for this role is the tractor manufacturing sector, with an emphasis on companies engaged in advanced agricultural machinery production. Working knowledge of design and development practices within this industry is critical, particularly in the context of sheet metal fabrication and electronics integration.
Experience in companies renowned for innovation and quality in tractor parts such as New Holland (CNH), John Deere, Kubota, and Sonalika will be particularly beneficial. Familiarity with the competitive landscape, supply chain dynamics, and quality standards specific to agricultural equipment will allow the candidate to seamlessly adapt and contribute to the Product Development division.
Qualifications
Educational qualification requisite for this role is a Bachelor of Technology (B Tech) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree from an accredited institution. The candidate should have completed a full-time regular course reflecting a solid foundation in mechanical engineering or related disciplines, underpinning expertise in sheet metal design and product development.
Additional certifications or training relevant to project management, quality control, and manufacturing processes are advantageous and will support effective contribution in this role.
