Ltd., a leader in innovative agricultural solutions, is searching for a dedicated Assistant Manager - Contract Farming to join our dynamic Contract Farming department within the Mahindra Agri Solutions business unit. This role is vital for planning and managing potato planting programs, ensuring procurement from farmers meets targeted quantities and quality standards, and fostering strong partnerships within the agricultural community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic plans for potato planting that align with company goals, ensuring optimal procurement from contracted farmers while maintaining rigorous quality control standards.
- Provide expert agronomic advice to growers on crop management practices, including identifying potential issues early and recommending sustainable, practical solutions to enhance crop health and yield.
- Conduct systematic monitoring and detailed analysis of crop growth and development stages, using multivariate statistical techniques to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
- Build and nurture strong, trust-based relationships with current growers, while actively identifying and engaging new farmers to expand the contracting network and promote inclusive agricultural practices.
- Design and oversee a variety of field experiments aimed at optimizing potato yields and improving crop resilience under diverse conditions.
- Motivate and support growers by building their confidence through education, effective communication, and shared best practices, empowering them to achieve high production standards.
- Assist growers comprehensively in all areas of crop production, offering hands-on support as well as strategic guidance tailored to individual farm contexts.
- Troubleshoot challenges raised by various stakeholders promptly and efficiently, ensuring seamless communication and resolution of concerns related to crop management, quality, and supply chain issues.
- Train departmental staff on quality control procedures, proper documentation techniques, and customer interaction skills, upholding the highest standards of operational excellence.
- Implement and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) relevant to the Agronomy Department, fostering a culture of consistency and accountability.
- Engage proactively in assigned new projects, contributing innovative ideas and delivering measurable results that align with company objectives.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness of the potato supply chain, from farm to market, and actively participate in initiatives that enhance value delivery across the chain.
- Commit to regular travel to farming sites and project locations, facilitating hands-on engagement and real-time support for contracted farmers.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Holds a degree or equivalent qualification in Agronomy, Agriculture, or a related field, with proven experience in contract farming management and potato crop production.
- Possesses strong analytical and statistical skills, including experience with multivariate statistical methods applied to agricultural data.
- Exhibits excellent interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills, with the ability to inspire and educate growers and team members effectively.
- Demonstrates problem-solving aptitude, resourcefulness, and adaptability in addressing challenges within agricultural operations.
- Is commercially savvy, understanding market dynamics and the economic factors impacting the potato supply chain.
- Comfortable with regular travel to interact directly with farmers and project sites across the region.
