Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As Assistant Manager - Supply Chain Planning & Control within the Farm Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient management of inventory to ensure seamless raw material and component flow to manufacturing operations. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining agreed inventory levels by closely monitoring stock to prevent shortages or excess, and facilitating smooth production workflows.
  • Participating actively in developing inventory planning strategies, including defining optimal stock levels and establishing protocols for inventory adjustments.
  • Coordinating with procurement and manufacturing teams to synchronize demand forecasting and supply scheduling, thereby optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Implementing and enforcing compliance with established inventory management policies and procedures to uphold quality and operational standards.
  • Leading efforts in loss prevention by designing and overseeing rigorous stock control measures ensuring minimal wastage and pilferage.
  • Managing and guiding the day-to-day activities of the Material Logistics and Inventory (MLL) team, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance culture.
  • Regularly analysing inventory data and generating actionable reports that inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety and sustainability standards in all inventory management practices.
  • Driving process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy, reduce lead times, and improve overall supply chain responsiveness.

You will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between supply chain planning and manufacturing execution, contributing significantly to the operational excellence of the Farm Division.

Critical Experience

Critical experience required for success in this position includes:

  • In-depth knowledge of inventory management principles specific to the automotive or farm equipment manufacturing sectors, including familiarity with just-in-time (JIT), lean inventory practices, and supply chain risk mitigation strategies.
  • Proven expertise in inventory planning and control mechanisms, with a demonstrated ability to define, monitor, and adjust inventory levels to balance cost and service outcomes.
  • Strong capability in coordinating between procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to ensure optimal inventory availability and minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Experience implementing loss prevention strategies and compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team focused on material logistics and inventory management, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Competence in analysing large datasets to identify trends, forecast demand, and support strategic supply chain decisions.
  • Track record of successfully managing inventory systems using advanced ERP platforms or specialised supply chain software tools.
