Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As an Assistant Manager - Transmission at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd within the Farm Division, you will play a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the transmission assembly processes in our tractor manufacturing operations. Your core responsibilities will include managing production activities to ensure adherence to quality standards, timelines, and cost targets.
- Lead and coordinate transmission assembly operations, ensuring efficient workflow and resource utilization to meet production schedules and quality benchmarks.
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product reliability.
- Monitor production performance through key metrics such as PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale), analyzing data to identify trends and implement corrective actions proactively.
- Oversee manpower planning and deployment, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture while addressing training needs and employee development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain to support new product development and smooth mass production ramp-ups.
- Manage supplier relationships pertinent to transmission components; ensure timely delivery of quality materials while engaging in cost management and negotiation activities.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce scrap rates, enhance defect detection processes, and resolve customer complaints related to transmission assembly through effective root cause analysis and corrective measures.
- Implement safety protocols and foster a safe working environment adhering to company and industry standards.
- Prepare detailed reports on production performance, highlighting achievements, challenges, and plans for sustaining operational excellence.

Your background should include actionable knowledge in budget oversight, workforce planning, and interdepartmental supplier coordination, ensuring smooth production flow and adherence to financial constraints.

- Proven expertise in leading transmission assembly or comparable mechanical manufacturing processes with a deep understanding of PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale) metrics and their practical applications.
- Consistent track record of cost management success through targeted productivity improvements, reduction of scrap and rework, and maximising efficient use of resources.
- Skilled in spearheading SPR (Supplier Performance Review) initiatives utilising data-driven approaches to identify defects and implement long-term corrective strategies.
- Competence in managing and resolving customer complaints by translating feedback into substantial manufacturing quality improvements ensuring enhanced customer satisfaction.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate across departments and with vendors to foster a culture of continuous improvement, aligned project delivery, and process synchronization.
- Demonstrated leadership in training, inspiring, and managing diverse teams, with strong conflict resolution skills and capability to conduct thorough performance evaluations.
- Hands-on experience in new product development lifecycles, including scaling from prototype to mass production phases sustaining product quality and process reliability.
