Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As the Assistant Manager for Front Axle and Hydraulics in tractor manufacturing within Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be responsible for end-to-end management of the front axle and hydraulics design, development, and production processes. This includes coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure design specifications meet structural integrity, durability, and performance standards while aligning with manufacturing capabilities.
You will lead initiatives to optimize hydraulic systems, ensuring efficiency and reliability in tractor operation. Active involvement in troubleshooting, quality assurance, and continuous improvement projects will be key to your role.
Your responsibilities extend to collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance departments to guarantee seamless integration of front axle and hydraulic subsystems in tractors. You will also monitor compliance with safety and environmental regulations relevant to tractor manufacturing.
Key deliverables include:
- Development and validation of front axle systems that meet technical and safety standards.
- Design and enhancement of hydraulic components and systems tailored to farm machinery needs.
- Implementation of innovative solutions to improve system robustness and cost-effectiveness.
- Contributing to the strategic roadmap for product enhancements within the Farm Division.
- Leading design reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning related to front axle and hydraulics.
- Ensuring documentation and change management adhere to industry best practices and internal quality standards.
- Supporting supplier selection and evaluation related to axle and hydraulic assemblies.
- Mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Education Qualification
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a preference for qualifications in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering disciplines. Relevant academic credentials include:
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering
- Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

A solid foundation in engineering principles related to vehicle systems, hydraulics, and mechanical design is essential. Additional certifications or training in hydraulics design, automotive systems, or project management will be advantageous but are not mandatory.
Proficiency in engineering software tools pertinent to design and analysis such as CAD, CAE, and computational hydraulics modelling is highly desirable.
General Experience
Candidates are expected to have between three to seven years of relevant experience in the automotive or agricultural machinery manufacturing sector. This experience should ideally encompass direct involvement in front axle or hydraulics system design, development, or manufacturing support roles.
Key experience areas include:
- Design and integration of mechanical and hydraulic systems in tractors or similar heavy machinery.
- Cross-functional project management and coordination, including working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Application of quality standards and continuous improvement methodologies within manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with testing protocols and validation of vehicle components under real-world conditions.
Experience working within fast-paced manufacturing settings with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction is highly valued.

Critical experience for this role is centered on deep knowledge and practical expertise in the design and operational aspects of front axle assemblies and hydraulic systems specifically tailored to tractors or agricultural equipment. This includes:
- Proven track record of successfully delivering front axle and hydraulic subsystem projects from conceptualization through to full production release.
- Expertise in hydraulic circuit design, component selection, and troubleshooting within mobile machinery.
- Strong understanding of load dynamics and stress analysis related to axle systems, ensuring durability and safety under agricultural working conditions.
- Experience with relevant statutory and safety regulations affecting vehicle sub-systems.
- Capability to innovate and implement solutions that enhance system efficiency, reliability, and overall machine performance while managing cost constraints.
- Hands-on involvement with failure mode analysis, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Leadership in collaborative multidisciplinary engineering teams driving product improvements and innovation.
Proficiency in utilising engineering simulation and testing tools to validate designs and anticipate field performance is essential for success in this role.
