Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- In your role as Deputy Manager - Central Process Engineering (CPE) at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will take on a leadership position critical to the efficient running of the Farm Division's manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for the oversight and smooth operation of all plant activities, including production workflows, engineering support services, maintenance scheduling, safety assurance, regulatory compliance, supply chain distribution, and warehousing. Reporting directly to senior plant management, you will ensure cohesive collaboration between various departments to meet and exceed operational targets.
- Your leadership will be key in directing manufacturing processes to achieve cost-effectiveness, meet delivery timelines, and maintain high product quality while upholding robust safety and hygiene standards. You will champion the adoption and continuous improvement of modern operational methods, state-of-the-art equipment, and innovative systems aligned with the plant’s overarching strategic goals.
- Primary responsibilities include workforce planning, organising targeted training programs to enhance employee skills, and implementing well-structured performance management frameworks. You will foster a culture rooted in continuous improvement and innovation, enabling teams to proactively identify and address inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
- Specifically, you will lead the central process engineering division at the Zaheerabad plant, spearheading digital transformation efforts involving Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Total Quality Management (TQM), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Your role will involve mobilising cross-functional teams, ensuring integration of best practices and technological advancements to enhance operational capabilities.
- Collaboration is vital to this position, requiring you to liaise effectively with government regulators, union representatives, suppliers, and partners, thereby ensuring compliance with industrial laws, promoting healthy industrial relations, and enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the supply chain. Through your efforts, you will significantly contribute to operational excellence, sustainable manufacturing practices, and reinforcing Mahindra & Mahindra’s reputation for quality and innovation.
Education Qualification
The candidate we seek will ideally hold a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering, providing a strong technical foundation essential for this role. Alternatively, a diploma in a relevant engineering discipline may be accepted provided the candidate demonstrates considerable practical experience and proven capabilities in technical and managerial domains.
This formal education background underpins the analytical skills necessary to diagnose complex manufacturing challenges, interpret technical data accurately, and participate effectively in the design and optimisation of production systems and plant machinery.
Additional academic qualifications or certifications in areas such as operations management, supply chain logistics, quality assurance, lean manufacturing, or digital manufacturing technologies will be advantageous. General Experience
We are looking for candidates with 7 to 15 years of progressive experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably gained within large-scale, complex industrial settings. Your professional background should clearly demonstrate capabilities in leading operations with measurable success in enhancing plant productivity and fostering operational excellence.
Essential experience includes hands-on involvement with manufacturing technology systems and process optimisation, with an emphasis on improving production workflows, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring rigorous regulatory compliance.
Experience in building and managing professional relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders is required, supporting collaborative efforts aimed at achieving strategic business outcomes. Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies, digitisation, and technological advancements in manufacturing processes will be paramount.
Moreover, proven skills in mentoring and developing multidisciplinary teams, combined with experience in performance management within a manufacturing context, will be valuable contributions towards our talent development and employee engagement objectives.
Critical Experience
The ideal candidate will have critical prior experience managing key manufacturing operations, including leadership over significant support functions such as Supply Chain Management (SCM), Process Engineering (PE), or Production Planning and Control (PPC). Mastery in these areas ensures a comprehensive understanding of integrated manufacturing systems and enables the deployment of strategic operational initiatives.
You will bring a demonstrated track record of leading digitisation and innovation projects within manufacturing environments, showcasing the ability to drive change and optimise operational performance through technology adoption. Significant experience with implementing and rolling out Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Total Quality Management (TQM), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and Lean Manufacturing techniques is essential to success in this role.
Maintaining robust and productive partnerships with government agencies, trade unions, suppliers, and external business partners is key to sustaining compliant and harmonious industrial relations, which underpin operational stability and business continuity.
