Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
In the role of Deputy Manager - Assembly Maintenance, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality and reliability of mechanical and electrical assembly equipment in the manufacturing environment. Key deliverables include:
- Applying expert knowledge of Analytical Quality Control (QC) tools, including ISO standards, Kaizen methodologies, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), QC Story, Machinery Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (MFMEA), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), Time-Based Maintenance (TBM), and Root Cause Analysis to enhance operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues within power presses and Electro-Overhead Traveling (EOT) cranes, ensuring minimal impact on production schedules.
- Possessing comprehensive skills in repairing and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems integral to press operations, maintaining system integrity and safety compliance.
- Conducting precise alignment checks and corrections for parallelism and perpendicularity on assembly presses to uphold manufacturing accuracy and product quality.
- Monitoring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements pertinent to equipment maintenance and safety standards within the manufacturing setting.
- Managing preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, uptime maximization, mean time to repair (MTTR), and mean time between failures (MTBF) for tryout and spotting presses as well as CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to ensure continuous production flow.
- Overseeing maintenance and uptime of critical utilities including overhead cranes, diesel generators (DG sets), air compressors, and forklifts to support assembly line operations.
- Strategically planning, controlling, and monitoring spare parts inventory to optimize maintenance workflows and reduce equipment downtime.
- Implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) PM pillar activities aimed at enhancing equipment effectiveness, reducing breakdowns, and fostering a maintenance culture aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
- Developing detailed job descriptions and training materials for assembly maintenance roles, promoting team capability development and operational excellence.
Preferred Industries
Education Qualification
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree, specifically in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. This educational foundation provides essential knowledge in mechanical system design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science, which are critical for the effective maintenance and troubleshooting of complex manufacturing equipment. Additional certifications or training in maintenance management, quality management systems such as ISO 9000 and ISO/TS 16949, and safety standards such as OHSAS 18001 are highly desirable and will be advantageous in performing responsibilities at a managerial level.
Continuing professional development and certifications related to specialized equipment such as CNC machinery and hydraulic system maintenance are encouraged, fostering expertise that supports both personal career growth and organizational improvement in production reliability and safety compliance.
General Experience
Candidates should bring between 5 to 11 years of progressive experience in maintenance roles within manufacturing industries, with a preferred background in engine manufacturing, engineering, or automobile sectors. This experience should demonstrate increasing responsibility and expertise in mechanical and electrical maintenance, ideally within assembly lines or production units relying heavily on presses, CNC machines, and heavy utilities like cranes and compressors.
Experience managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, coordinating cross-functional teams, and utilizing TPM methodologies to drive equipment efficiency and reliability is essential. Practical knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance in maintenance operations, as well as inventory and spares management, will be foundational in successfully navigating the demands of this role.
Critical Experience
Critical experience includes a deep familiarity with analytical tools and methodologies such as MFMEA, condition-based and time-based maintenance strategies that directly influence equipment availability and reliability. Proven skills in troubleshooting mechanical power presses, electro-overhead cranes, and the associated hydraulic and pneumatic systems are mandatory.
Capability in maintaining CNC machines, ensuring their optimal PM schedules, uptime, and repair metrics adherence, will distinguish candidates for this role. Equally important is experience in implementing TPM practices and continuous improvement initiatives like Kaizen and VSM to foster operational excellence.
The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in statutory, regulatory, and legal compliance related to maintenance activities and safety standards. Strong leadership skills in cross-department coordination, spare parts planning and control, and the ability to craft job descriptions and training programs for maintenance teams are critical to success in this position.
