Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As the Manager of Central Process Engineering at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring top-tier quality and operational excellence across manufacturing processes. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Quality Assurance: Lead initiatives to embed quality into every stage of manufacturing using tools such as PFMEA, Mistake Proofing, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and CAPA. Drive First Time Right (FTR), Every Time Right (ETR), and Defect Cause Elimination (DCE) for resolving critical and chronic quality challenges.
- Process Planning & Productionization: Strategically plan and manage changes in existing products including Certified Reliability Engineering (CRE) aspects, and actively support the industrialization and ramp-up of new product launches.
- Capital Expenditure Management: Develop and oversee capex budgets aimed at improving Product Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Safety (PQCDS). Manage end-to-end processes from need identification through equipment commissioning to ensure successful realization of capabilities.
- Operational Efficiency: Drive productivity enhancements focusing on manpower optimization and capacity expansion. Lead lean manufacturing practices to reduce lead times, improve Value Added Ratio (VAR), and contribute to overall manufacturing agility.
- Maintenance & Continuous Improvement: Champion Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives alongside fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving within the team.
- Quality Systems Management: Ensure compliance and continuous improvement of quality systems including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Process Mapping, Control Plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and broader Total Quality Management (TQM) frameworks.
- Cost Management: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through improvement projects, balancing operational excellence with financial stewardship.

Education Qualification
We seek candidates with a strong academic foundation in engineering to effectively design and optimize manufacturing processes. The ideal educational qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or closely related disciplines from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Advanced certifications or postgraduate education in process engineering, quality management, or manufacturing excellence will be considered a valuable asset but are not mandatory.
The educational background should encompass a thorough understanding of mechanical systems, production methodologies, and quality assurance principles necessary to lead complex process engineering projects in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
General Experience
The successful candidate will possess significant experience that demonstrates both breadth and depth in manufacturing and process engineering, ideally including:
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional experience within manufacturing environments, reflecting a keen understanding of production operations, quality control, and process optimization.
- At least 6-7 years specifically in process engineering or manufacturing engineering capacities, showcasing hands-on expertise in process planning, process improvement, and quality assurance tools.
- Experience working in automotive or heavy manufacturing sectors is highly preferred, with a proven track record of contributing to complex projects involving cross-functional collaboration.
- Exposure to capital budgeting, equipment commissioning, lean manufacturing implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives is essential to fulfill the managerial responsibilities of this position.
