Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As an integral member of the Quality Assurance team at Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, you will lead the validation and quality management of drive trains, motors, and associated processes within the electric vehicle (EV) domain. Your role will ensure adherence to top-tier quality standards and continuous improvement through the implementation of industry best practices and robust quality management systems.
Your key responsibilities include:
  • Validation and rigorous quality assurance of drive train and motor systems, addressing process optimization to achieve zero defects and maximize reliability.
  • Implement and monitor Zero Defect stages and Poka Yoke (mistake-proofing) methods to eliminate errors during manufacturing.
  • Champion the Quality Management System adoption using disciplined Weekly Management (DWM) and Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycles, ensuring sustained Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and Quality Engineering (QE) excellence.
  • Manage and execute analytical techniques including Manufacturing Process Part Approval Process (MPPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to identify risks and assure process robustness.
  • Conduct daily monitoring of internal rejections, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions to promptly resolve quality deviations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with application and field teams to swiftly address customer complaints, applying structured problem-solving methods to minimize the impact and prevent recurrence.
  • Drive Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives by continuously improving manufacturing and quality practices, contributing to efficient, waste-minimized production.
  • Apply expert knowledge in SPC, and utilize structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and QC Story, supported by comprehensive interpretation of engineering drawings and detailed rejection analyses.
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of ISO and IATF standards and documentation to ensure compliance and support audits.

In this role, you will be pivotal in fostering a culture of quality excellence, innovation, and operational effectiveness that aligns with Mahindra's commitment to delivering exceptional products to our customers.

Experience

The ideal candidate will possess between 10 and 14 years of progressive experience specifically related to quality assurance within the automotive sector, particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) domain. Hands-on experience and demonstrated expertise in drive train and motor validation, as well as process quality control, are essential.

Extensive experience in leading quality improvement initiatives, implementing zero defect strategies, and applying advanced quality management tools such as MPPAP, FMEA, SPC, and Control Plans is critical. You should be adept at managing cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and customer service departments to address and resolve quality challenges.

Professional experience should include working within structured quality systems compliant with ISO/IATF standards. Proficiency in conducting root cause analyses using methodologies such as 8D and QC Story, and experience with Statistical Process Control to maintain ongoing process stability, is highly desirable.

Furthermore, experience in driving Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives and continuous improvement practices within manufacturing environments will distinguish successful candidates.

Industry Preferred

Applicants with backgrounds predominantly in the Automotive industry, especially those with experience in the Electric Vehicle (EV) segment, are highly preferred. Knowledge and practical exposure within the EV domain will be particularly valued, given our focus on innovative mobility solutions.

Experience in companies involved in automotive powertrain manufacturing, motor systems, or related automotive sub-systems will also be advantageous. Familiarity with advanced manufacturing and quality assurance processes within these sectors significantly enhances candidate suitability.

Qualifications

Educational qualifications expected for this role include a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering. Demonstrated foundational knowledge in mechanical systems, electromechanical integration, and quality assurance principles is essential to succeed in this capacity.

Additional professional certifications in quality management, such as Six Sigma, Lean, or certifications pertaining to automotive quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949 auditing), would be highly regarded and beneficial to the candidate’s effectiveness.

Strong analytical skills, proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, and the capacity to utilize quality management software and tools are fundamental to fulfilling the responsibilities associated with this position.

General Requirements

The successful candidate will exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving technologies and industry standards is vital.

Proactive problem-solving abilities, detail orientation, and a results-driven approach underpin the general requirements of this role.

The candidate should be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities efficiently, and exhibit leadership qualities even in cross-functional settings.

While travel is not required for this position, flexibility to engage with various teams within the organisation and potentially external partners will support successful job performance.
