Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a key contributor within the Quality division at Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading quality assurance initiatives with a particular focus on SAP transactions, digitalisation of quality processes, and effective team management. The role demands comprehensive expertise in the automotive sector, specialising in motor, power pack, power electronics, and vehicle assembly product validation.
- Lead and manage the implementation of zero-defect manufacturing practices and poka-yoke systems to minimise defects and enhance production quality.
- Ensure rigorous adherence to in-process quality assurance protocols as outlined in standard operating procedures, maintaining high standards across all manufacturing stages.
- Facilitate usage and understanding of core quality methodologies including MPPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to uphold process integrity and product reliability.
- Monitor daily internal rejection rates and spearhead corrective action plans to address quality deviations effectively and proactively.
- Collaborate closely with field and application teams in the investigation and resolution of customer complaint cases, particularly zero and first-level MIS concerns, to improve product satisfaction and feedback integration.
- Coordinate and conduct comprehensive audits including process, product, and layered audits to ensure compliance and continuous improvement within manufacturing operations.
- Champion the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with ISO/IATF standards, focusing on enhancing all aspects of manufacturing quality and facilitating prompt resolution of recurrent quality challenges.
- Utilise statistical process control (SPC), 8D problem-solving methodologies, and rejection analysis, alongside interpreting engineering drawings to support decision-making and quality enhancements.
- Manage quality clearance activities via SAP transactions, ensuring all documentation and systems accurately reflect product status and compliance.
- Drive team engagement and capacity-building initiatives, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Conduct end-of-line testing for aggregates and overall vehicle assessments to verify product readiness and adherence to safety and performance standards.
This role further requires the willingness to embrace new challenges aimed at improving quality and cost efficiencies, displaying proficient communication skills for stakeholder engagement and data analysis using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of progressive experience within the automotive quality assurance domain, demonstrating a solid track record in managing and improving manufacturing quality across vehicle power systems and assemblies. Experience should encompass hands-on skills with SAP quality modules, coordination of cross-functional teams, and a comprehensive understanding of automotive industry quality standards and methodologies.
Significant exposure to quality assurance processes including defect analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation is essential. Proven capabilities in leading audits, managing customer complaint resolution, and executing continual quality improvement projects will be highly valued.
Familiarity with digitalisation in quality assurance processes and the ability to navigate complex quality management systems within a high-volume manufacturing environment will set the candidate apart.
Industry Preferred
The preferred industry background for this position is within the automotive sector, specifically in areas related to motor manufacturing, power pack assemblies, power electronics, and vehicle assembly lines. Candidates with experience in automotive component validation, quality control, and electronics in automotive applications will find their expertise aligns closely with the role's requirements.
Exposure to industries that follow stringent quality standards such as ISO/IATF certifications and automotive-specific quality programs like PPAP and FMEA will be advantageous. Additionally, candidates with backgrounds in manufacturing environments focused on defect-free production, process auditing, and continuous improvement practices are strongly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
A Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required for this role, ensuring a strong foundation in technical and engineering principles relevant to quality assurance in automotive manufacturing.
Additional certifications or training related to quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949), Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or SAP proficiency will be considered beneficial and demonstrate a commitment to professional development in quality disciplines.

Strong leadership and team management abilities are essential to guide and motivate cross-functional teams towards shared quality objectives.
Proficiency in digital tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis, reporting, and presentation is crucial for continuous monitoring and enhancement of quality metrics.

The role does not require travel, allowing the successful candidate to focus on operational excellence within the local manufacturing context.
