Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As the Manager for Tractor Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and Cabin Assembly within our Farm Division, you will be responsible for overseeing all activities related to the final quality assurance and assembly processes of tractor cabins. Your role will ensure that every unit delivered meets stringent manufacturing standards, complies with regulatory requirements, and aligns with customer expectations.

  • Lead and manage the complete PDI process, ensuring that tractors are thoroughly inspected post-assembly, defects are identified, and corrective actions are timely implemented to uphold product quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the cabin assembly line to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency in line with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production planning, quality assurance, and supply chain, to synchronize assembly schedules and maintain smooth operations.
  • Implement and maintain robust equipment management strategies, overseeing maintenance schedules and ensuring machinery reliability to minimize downtime.
  • Champion safety and regulatory compliance throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring all activities adhere to company policies and industry standards.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing team, fostering an environment of learning, innovation, and accountability aligned with Mahindra’s leadership competencies.
  • Utilize strategic business foresight to anticipate market trends, customer needs, and operational challenges, proposing innovative solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Manage cost optimisation efforts by identifying waste reduction opportunities and leveraging process knowledge, contributing to profitability and product excellence.
  • Prepare detailed reports on production status, quality metrics, and project progress, providing insights for senior management decision-making.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Technology degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering. A Diploma in related fields will also be considered, provided there is significant practical experience supporting expertise in manufacturing and assembly processes.

Additional certifications or training in manufacturing systems, quality management, or project management would be advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional development.

Educational qualifications should reflect a solid foundation in engineering principles, process optimisation, and quality assurance methodologies applicable to manufacturing environments, particularly within heavy machinery or automotive sectors.

General Experience

The position requires 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, preferably within the tractor or heavy equipment manufacturing industry. This experience should demonstrate increasing responsibility, including leadership roles managing production lines or quality assurance functions.

Experience must encompass expertise in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), equipment reliability, process optimisation, and maintenance management. Familiarity with regulatory compliance applicable to manufacturing and quality standards is essential.

Proven ability in managing operational excellence initiatives, conducting performance management, and leading cross-functional teams will be key to succeeding in this role.

A background in production planning, scheduling, and talent development within a manufacturing context will further strengthen the candidate’s capability to deliver results aligned with business objectives.

Critical experience for this role includes in-depth knowledge and hands-on management of Tractor Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) processes and cabin assembly operations.
