Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The Deputy Manager-Maintenance will have a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and processes within the Electric Mobility-LMM business unit. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough breakdown, predictive, and preventive maintenance activities aimed at maximizing equipment reliability and maintaining optimal Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) in alignment with established targets.
  • Leading Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to foster autonomous maintenance culture and enhance equipment uptime.
  • Maintaining rigorous compliance with industry standards and certifications like IATF16949, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 through meticulous documentation and audit preparedness.
  • Hands-on involvement with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and managing a diverse range of manufacturing systems including SPMs, SMT lines, electronic and mechanical assembly lines equipped with pneumatic and DC torque tools, manipulators, and oil dispensers.
  • Managing utilities infrastructure such as DG sets, transformers, compressors, chillers, AC units, and ensuring the safety and functionality of electrical panels along with high and low tension yard distributions.
  • Effectively leading cross-functional projects focused on improvements across production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale (PQCDSM).
  • Planning and executing statutory and legal testing activities to maintain 100% legal compliance pertaining to safety and operational standards.
  • Driving initiatives focused on energy and water conservation, supporting sustainability goals including Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 carbon footprint reductions and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibilities.
  • Controlling spare parts inventory and repair costs through strategic budgeting and utilization oversight.
  • Leading lubrication management programs to extend machinery life and prevent unscheduled downtimes.
  • Ensuring comprehensive understanding and compliance with electrical safety regulations as per the Factories Act.

Additional Expertise Required:

  • Proficiency with ISO documentation requirements encompassing IATF, QMS, EHS, and OHSAS standards.
  • Operational experience with SAP Plant Maintenance module, including creating purchase requisitions and managing spare parts inventory.
  • Possession of a certified electrical inspectorate license.
  • Strong grounding in safety protocols, legal documentation, and usage of personal protective equipment aligned with TPM and 5S standards.
  • Active participation in continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen events, root cause problem-solving, and CAPA implementation.
  • Capability to lead and support maintenance activities across different shifts and mentor junior technicians.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience handling Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) and managing material handling equipment such as forklifts, stackers, BOFT, and mobile storage racks.
  • Leading electrical safety programs, internal audits, and ensuring adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements within the plant.

Experience

The ideal candidate will bring 7 to 9 years of hands-on experience in maintenance management within manufacturing environments, particularly those involving electrical and electronic assembly lines.

This tenure should evidence progressively increasing responsibilities, including managing breakdowns, preventive maintenance, and reliability improvement projects.

Experience should showcase a deep understanding of manufacturing machinery maintenance, safety compliance, and coordination with cross-functional teams to execute initiatives that align with business goals.

Strong familiarity with relevant standards such as IATF16949, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 is expected.

Previous roles involving SAP Plant Maintenance module usage, PLC programming, and leading maintenance teams will be highly advantageous.

Exposure to sustainability projects, energy conservation efforts, and legal compliance auditing will add considerable value.

Additionally, experience working in shift-based operations and managing spare parts inventory efficiently is essential.

Industry Preferred

Experience within the automotive manufacturing sector, particularly in electric mobility or components manufacturing, is strongly preferred.

Exposure to industries focusing on high-precision electronic assembly lines, SMT lines, and manufacturing environments utilizing advanced automation tools such as SPMs will be beneficial.

Industries operating under stringent quality (IATF16949) and environmental standards (ISO 14001) with a strong focus on occupational health and safety (ISO 45001) compliance align well with the expectations of this role.

Experience in facilities with heavy electrical utility infrastructure, including high and low tension electrical distribution, compressors, chillers, and HVAC systems, is highly desirable.

Candidates with backgrounds in companies known for implementing TPM, 5S methods, and sustainability initiatives will be particularly well suited for this position.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) or a closely related field from a recognized institute.

Additional certifications or formal training in maintenance management, TPM, Kaizen, and safety standards will be considered advantageous.

Possession of an electrical inspectorate certification and a valid electrical license reflecting compliance with local regulatory authorities is mandatory.

Knowledge of PLC programming, SAP Plant Maintenance module, and ISO system standards such as IATF16949, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 will strengthen candidacy.

Strong analytical skills, effective communication capabilities, and proven leadership qualities within maintenance teams are essential qualifications.
