Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Perform detailed work content measurement using Methods-Time Measurement (MOST) techniques for new variants, engineering changes, and method updates, ensuring accurate data collection and implementation across production lines.
  • Execute line balancing activities tailored to varying takt times and model mixes, optimising both direct and indirect manpower allocation for enhanced operational efficiency within the shop floor.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce Non-Value Added (NVA) activities through process innovations and method improvements, contributing to overall productivity gains.
  • Apply strong expertise in productivity improvement tools, showcasing hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of line associates and workstations to identify Good, Yellow, and Red (GYR) status, facilitating actionable improvements that enhance worker comfort and reduce fatigue.
  • Lead TPM-KK pillar initiatives, specifically focusing on 'Focused Improvement' projects, driving sustained operational excellence with practical involvement.
  • Calculate work content for new models and variants, followed by optimal line balancing and coordinated execution to ensure seamless production ramp-up.
  • Strategically plan and continuously monitor manpower requirements, ensuring appropriate staffing levels align with production demands and shop-floor dynamics.
  • Identify capacity bottlenecks within the production process and lead debottlenecking efforts to support volume growth and maintain smooth workflow.
  • Advocate and drive the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle in daily operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Facilitate long-term settlement readiness in collaboration with union representatives, nurturing positive labour relations and ensuring operational stability on the shop floor.
  • Oversee indirect area work measurement including housekeeping, security, and line feeding activities, ensuring these essential functions are efficiently managed.
  • Deliver comprehensive productivity improvement awareness training sessions to shop floor production officers and supervisors, enhancing their skill sets and commitment to operational excellence.

In this role, maintaining a proactive approach to operational challenges and fostering cross-functional collaboration is essential to driving continuous improvement and meeting production targets effectively.

Experience

Applicants should have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience within industrial engineering or manufacturing process optimisation, preferably in automotive production environments.

Demonstrated expertise in work measurement techniques such as MOST or MTM, combined with hands-on experience in line balancing, manpower planning, and lean manufacturing tools.

Experience working with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), especially in KK pillar and focused improvement initiatives, is highly valued.

Proven track record in conducting ergonomic studies and implementing improvements to enhance worker safety and efficiency.

Strong familiarity with capacity analysis and bottleneck resolution, with practical applications in enhancing throughput and reducing operational delays.

Prior exposure to unionised work environments is advantageous, with experience in managing productive labour relations and contributing towards long term settlement readiness.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective training delivery and collaboration across different teams on the shop floor.

Industry Preferred

The ideal candidate will come from industries such as:

  • Automotive manufacturing, including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
  • Tier 1 suppliers within the automotive supply chain
  • Heavy machinery or other manufacturing sectors with a strong focus on production engineering and process optimisation

Experience within these industries ensures familiarity with complex production environments, quality standards, and continuous improvement practices tailored to high-volume, precision manufacturing.

Qualifications

The role requires a minimum educational qualification of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.

Additional certifications or training in industrial engineering, production management, lean manufacturing, or ergonomics will be considered an asset.

Strong analytical abilities, proficiency in relevant software tools for work measurement and process simulation, and a solid understanding of manufacturing systems are essential.

Candidates demonstrating a commitment to professional development through courses or certifications related to TPM, Six Sigma, or Kaizen principles will stand out.
