Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- Ensure strict adherence to established systems and processes within the department to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations and market demands.
- Lead the benchmarking efforts to identify and implement world-class manufacturing technologies, positioning the company at the forefront of industry standards.
- Develop and execute plans for the optimal utilisation of manpower and assets, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Drive continuous cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards across manufacturing operations.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive Monthly Management Information Systems (MIS) reports to provide data-driven insights for strategic decisions.
- Possess and apply deep expertise in CNC machines, PLC systems, and engine assembly machinery for enhanced operational control.
- Manage and optimise testbed systems including Water Circulation, Fuel Systems, IASYS software, and Dynalec controls to ensure accurate testing and quality assurance.
- Employ Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) and Time-Based Maintenance (TBM) methodologies to maximise machine availability and reliability.
- Implement and oversee Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) as well as Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) standards to cultivate a safe and compliant workplace.
- Innovate low-cost automation solutions aimed at boosting productivity and reducing manual interventions.
- Champion initiatives for improved machine uptime through proactive maintenance and upgrade strategies.
- Adopt and enforce Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to enhance equipment effectiveness.
- Lead corrective and preventive maintenance activities ensuring swift resolution of machine issues.
- Utilize Manufacturing Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (MFMEA) for thorough diagnosis and rectification of machine faults.
- Apply Eliminate, Combine, Rearrange, and Simplify (ECRS) methods to reduce breakdown frequency and downtime.
- Resolve quality concerns effectively through Quality Control (QC) Story methodology and actively participate in Quality Control Review Team (QCRT) committees to maintain high-quality standards.
- Foster a collaborative environment by nurturing strong relationships amongst customers, suppliers, and internal teams across departments.
- Promote employee engagement through effective leadership, empowerment, and motivation, thereby driving optimum departmental performance.
- Design and deliver training programs to enhance the technical and functional skills of officers within the department.
- Implement ABC analysis for strategic spare parts management, optimizing inventory and procurement processes.
- Plan and procure spare parts ensuring availability aligns with operational needs to avoid downtime.
- Draft and monitor budgets including capital and revenue expenditures, rigorously managing costs to remain within financial plans.
- Strategically plan resources to support departmental objectives and growth.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have a substantial track record with 12 to 15 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing operations, particularly in utility planning and machinery maintenance within a large-scale automotive or industrial environment.
Experience should include implementing maintenance methodologies such as CBM, TBM, TPM, and having exposure to cost reduction projects, process improvements, and automation deployment.
Proven expertise in managing CNC machines, PLCs, and engine assembly processes is essential, alongside competence in operating and maintaining sophisticated testbed systems.
Prior leadership roles where developing teams, managing cross-functional relationships, and delivering results under pressure are demonstrated will be highly valued.
Demonstrated success in budget management and spare parts procurement aligned with operational strategies is desirable.
Industry Preferred
Preferred industries include automotive manufacturing, heavy machinery production, industrial equipment manufacturing, and other related sectors where advanced manufacturing processes and technology-driven operational excellence are commonplace.
Candidates with backgrounds in companies focusing on high-precision manufacturing, process optimization, and stringent quality control standards will find this role particularly aligned with their expertise.
Experience within industries that prioritize sustainability, automation, and continuous improvement methodologies will be beneficial.
Qualifications
A postgraduate degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred to complement extensive practical experience.
Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or related process improvement disciplines will add significant value to the candidate’s profile.
Additional qualifications related to EHS and OHSAS standards, as well as specialized training in CNC and PLC technologies, will be an advantage.
