Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As an Assistant Manager - Tractor Assembly, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations across multiple shifts in a large manufacturing facility dedicated to tractor assembly. Your key deliverables include ensuring that production schedules are consistently met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance. You will lead and manage a dynamic operations team, driving initiatives related to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to optimize operational efficiency and minimize downtime.

Your role involves close monitoring of performance metrics and implementing strategies to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance overall manufacturing output. You will also coordinate workforce planning, including staffing and development, to build a motivated and skilled team. Performance management programs will be under your guidance to support continuous improvement.

Collaboration is critical as you maintain strong working relationships with business units, sales teams, and engineering departments to align operational activities with broader organisational goals and to facilitate seamless communication across functions. You will support cross-facility strategies and ensure that resources are effectively allocated and utilised across distributed sites.

  • Lead and manage operations across all shifts ensuring seamless production flow and adherence to quality standards.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations to foster a safe workplace.
  • Drive TPM initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and minimise operational disruptions.
  • Develop and execute staffing strategies including recruitment, training and performance assessment to build a competent workforce.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, and business leadership to align manufacturing objectives with market demands.
  • Utilise data-driven approaches for ongoing performance analysis and operational improvements.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and lean practices to elevate manufacturing excellence.

Education Qualification

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a strong educational background in engineering or technology. The preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience will also be considered.

The educational foundation should provide a thorough understanding of mechanical principles, manufacturing processes, and systems engineering applicable to tractor assembly operations. A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development is highly valued to stay abreast of latest industry advancements and manufacturing technologies.

General Experience

The ideal candidate will have between 3 to 7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or industrial operation management, preferably within the automobile or agricultural equipment manufacturing sectors. This experience should encompass:

  • Hands-on involvement in facility and production management, demonstrating the ability to oversee complex shift operations.
  • Exposure to quality management systems and compliance protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and driving performance improvements.
  • Working knowledge of safety, environmental, and TPM standards within manufacturing environments.

  • Strong familiarity with occupational health and safety standards such as OHSAS 18001 or equivalent, implementing environmental sustainability initiatives in manufacturing.
  • Expertise in operational resource management, including scheduling, capacity planning, and performance management across shifts.
  • Experience in developing and leading high-performing teams through talent development programs, motivation, and clear communication.
  • Ability to maintain and foster strategic relationships with stakeholders across business units including sales, engineering, and supply chain partners.
