Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
The Assembly - Shift Incharge at Swaraj Division will hold overseeing the comprehensive performance of the Tractor Assembly operations. This role mandates the effective utilisation of resources to meet and exceed production targets for current tractor models while skillfully managing the production ramp-up of new products.
Specific deliverables include:
- Consistently achieving and surpassing daily, monthly, and annual tractor production schedules aligned with business objectives.
- Enhancing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and operational efficiencies within assembly and paint shop environments.
- Managing critical SPQRCE (Safety, Productivity, Quality, Cost, Environment) shop floor metrics, utilising Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycles to address deviations.
- Leading and facilitating detailed root cause analysis sessions and problem-solving initiatives targeting quality, cost, and productivity challenges.
- Providing hands-on coaching to team members to champion safety culture, productivity enhancements, and TPM practices.
- Implementing Lean manufacturing methodologies and technologies to streamline operations and reduce waste.
- Overseeing end-to-end tractor assembly processes, ensuring adherence to quality management systems and manufacturing excellence standards.
- Budget planning and management, with focused execution of operational expenditure cost-saving projects.
- Championing workplace safety by promoting the implementation of The Mahindra Safety Way standards, leading safety committees, and ensuring a zero-accident work environment.
- Driving Environment Management System (EMS) compliance and sustainability initiatives on the shop floor.
- Ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance through coordination with the Plant Compliance Committee.
- Managing employee relations across a diverse workforce including white-collar, blue-collar, fixed, flexible, contractual staff, and trainees.
- Implementing Lean tools such as Methods-Time Measurement (MOST) to boost productivity.
- Optimising manpower deployment relative to production volumes to maximise resource utilisation.
- Leading digital transformation initiatives on the shop floor by leveraging data analytics for problem resolution and evidence-based decision-making.
- Planning and delivering comprehensive training and capability-building programmes for officers and managerial staff.
- Collaborating closely with Product Quality teams to drive and execute the Manufacturing Quality plan, enhancing both internal and external quality metrics.
- Developing and supervising corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) focused on product and process quality enhancement.
- Ensuring seamless new product manufacturing readiness and successful production ramp-up phases.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology degree specializing in Mechanical or Production Engineering disciplines. This foundational technical education is critical for understanding and managing complex manufacturing processes associated with automobile assembly and paint operations.
Additional qualifications or certifications related to manufacturing excellence, Lean methodologies, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or quality management systems (e.g., ISO standards) will be advantageous and support the candidate’s ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives effectively.

General Experience
Prospective candidates should bring a minimum of 15 years of extensive experience in the automotive manufacturing sector, specifically within truck, tractor, or heavy equipment assembly and paint shop environments. This experience must demonstrate progressive leadership roles with significant responsibilities pertaining to production management and operational excellence.
Applicants should have a proven track record in managing and coordinating large-scale assembly operations, optimising production workflows, and implementing Lean manufacturing and TPM frameworks to drive efficiency, quality, and safety.
