Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a Shift Supervisor of Machine Shop- Mechanical Maintenance at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Swaraj Division, you will oversee the comprehensive upkeep and efficient operation of our machine shops specializing in heavy casting machining, light forging machining, and heat treatment processes. Your role will involve hands-on mechanical work with advanced CNC machinery including Horizontal Machining Centres (HMC), Vertical Machining Centres (VMC), turning, grinding, milling, boring, broaching, and gear cutting machines such as hobbing, shapers, shaving, and gear tooth cutting (GTC). You will also manage equipment such as industrial washing machines and heat treatment units including Salt Quench Furnaces (SQF) and induction hardening systems, as well as hoists.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing and ensuring strict compliance with all safety norms and regulations as prescribed by statutory bodies and internal standards.
- Driving Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Total Quality Management (TQM) methodologies within the plant to promote operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Guaranteeing 100% adherence to preventive maintenance schedules, thereby maximising machine availability and supporting plant efficiency, quality objectives, and cost targets.
- Effectively planning and managing spare parts inventory for all machinery to reduce maintenance turnaround times and avoid production delays.
- Applying your strong foundational knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics systems to maintain and improve machine functionality and safety.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production and quality departments, to align maintenance strategies with overall business goals. You will also be responsible for preparing detailed maintenance reports and analyses, identifying trends, and recommending strategies to reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs.

Critical Experience
The critical experience required for this position includes expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with various CNC machines such as HMC, VMC, turning centres, grinding and milling machines, boring and broaching tools, and specialized gear cutting machinery including hobbing machines and gear shaving equipment. Experience with robotic systems and industrial washing machines as part of the maintenance scope is highly desirable.
A deep understanding of heat treatment equipment, specifically salt quench furnaces and induction hardening systems, is vital to ensure these processes are maintained within operational standards and safety compliance.
Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance is essential, as these aspects form a core part of the machine maintenance regime. Proven leadership skills in guiding troubleshooting teams and maintaining high machinery uptime through effective preventive strategies and spare parts management will be required to excel in this role.
