Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  1. Ensure strict adherence to industrial work area safety protocols, fostering a safe and compliant working environment.
  2. Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of industrial safety regulations and proactive implementation within the paint shop.
  3. Oversee and optimise paint process operations, including Pretreatment (PT) and Cathodic Electro Deposition (CED) to guarantee superior finish quality.
  4. Apply deep understanding of tractor paint quality standards, managing control parameters to consistently meet and exceed quality benchmarks.
  5. Set up and fine-tune paint process parameters to ensure efficiency and excellence, incorporating latest technological advances in paint chemistry.
  6. Lead quality control initiatives using seven QC tools and employ a problem-solving mindset to identify, analyse, and rectify paint defects effectively.
  7. Calculate departmental direct and indirect costs; identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement prudent cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
  8. Adopt an analytical approach to deliverables, monitoring performance and implementing improvements based on data-driven insights.
  9. Conduct root cause analyses using the 4M framework (Man, Machine, Material, Method) to troubleshoot and prevent recurrence of process issues.
  10. Manage manpower efficiently, including workforce planning, operation handling, and resolving industrial issues to ensure seamless production continuity.
  11. Review, update, and enforce department control procedures and process documentation to maintain compliance and operational excellence.
  12. Lead internal and external process audits, driving continuous improvement and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  13. Exhibit leadership qualities that inspire and manage both quality and production teams to achieve organisational objectives collaboratively.
  14. Identify daily operational issues promptly and implement both immediate and sustainable corrective measures.
  15. Prepare detailed daily, monthly, and yearly reports for management, focusing on quality defect minimisation strategies and performance targets.
  16. Coordinate effectively across interdepartmental teams to foster collaboration and optimise overall plant productivity.
  17. Maintain a cost-conscious mindset, balancing quality delivery with financial efficiency.
  18. Possess extensive knowledge of paint chemistry to support technical decision-making and innovation within paint shop operations.

General Experience

Candidates should demonstrate a substantial track record with a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in paint shop processes, preferably within the automotive or auto components sectors.

Experience should encompass hands-on involvement with paint application technologies, including Cathodic Electro Deposition (CED) and Pretreatment (PT) processes, coupled with exposure to quality control and safety management.

Practical experience in team leadership, including manpower management and interdepartmental coordination, is vital to excel in this role.

Familiarity with cost management, process audits, and use of analytical tools to enhance operational effectiveness is highly desirable.

The candidate should have a proven ability to implement quality assurance measures and drive continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

  • Deep understanding and application of industrial safety rules and best practices within a manufacturing setting, ensuring compliance and fostering a safety-oriented culture.
  • Proficient knowledge of paint technologies, especially in setting and adjusting process parameters for PT and CED paint processes to achieve optimum product quality.

  • Experience managing departmental cost frameworks, with the aptitude to analyse direct and indirect costs and introduce effective cost-saving strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing quality and production teams, including manpower planning and resolving industrial issues efficiently.
  • Competence in conducting and managing internal and external process audits, ensuring compliance with industry standards and driving operational excellence.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive performance reports (daily, monthly, yearly) and provide strategic direction for quality improvement aligned with company goals.
  • Exposure to paint chemistry and its practical implications on manufacturing processes, facilitating informed technical decision-making.
