Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
In Paint Shop at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd - SWARAJ DIVISION, you will be accountable for driving excellence in the paint shop operations within the Swaraj Division. You will implement and enforce stringent industrial safety standards to safeguard all team members, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory and company policies.
Your role involves comprehensive oversight of paint processes including Pretreatment (PT) and Cathodic Electro Deposition (CED), with a deep understanding of paint technology, chemistry, and quality control parameters. You will calibrate and adjust paint parameters to optimise quality and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading root cause analysis utilizing the 4 M (Man, Machine, Method, Material) framework to address and resolve quality and process issues.
- Employing the 7 Quality Control tools to identify problems and implement sustainable solutions.
- Calculating and analysing departmental direct and indirect costs, with an emphasis on identifying and executing cost-saving initiatives.
- Supervising and managing manpower effectively, including handling operational and industrial relations to maintain a highly productive team environment.
- Reviewing departmental control procedures and maintaining comprehensive process documentation to ensure consistent quality and audit readiness.
- Conducting internal and external process audits to assess compliance and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintaining a leadership mindset by managing the quality and production teams with clear direction and motivation.
- Analysing daily operational issues and providing both immediate countermeasures and long-term solutions to minimise defects and optimise delivery timelines.
- Compiling comprehensive daily, monthly, and yearly reports for management that include quality defect analysis and actionable recommendations.
- Facilitating interdepartmental coordination to streamline operations and foster a collaborative work culture.
- Promoting a cost-conscious approach across all activities within the paint shop.

General Experience
We require a minimum of 7 years of substantive experience in the automotive or related paint industry, demonstrating a robust track record of progressive responsibility. Candidates should have hands-on experience overseeing industrial paint application processes, with a strong emphasis on quality control and process optimisation.
Prior roles should reflect experience in:
- Managing safety protocols in industrial settings and enforcing adherence to safety standards.
- Multi-disciplinary coordination across manufacturing teams to meet production targets and quality specifications.
- Data-driven decision-making supporting cost control, budgeting, and efficiency improvements.
- Using advanced IT tools for operational management and reporting.
Experience working within a matrix organisation and interfacing with various departments including quality assurance, production, maintenance, and supply chain will be advantageous.
Critical Experience
- Demonstrable expertise in cost analysis, budgeting, and implementing on-line solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with problem-solving aptitude; effective communication and organisational skills are essential.
- Proven ability to analyse and interpret complex data consistently to provide insightful management information that supports strategic decision-making.
- Advanced proficiency with IT tools such as SAP for enterprise resource planning, Power BI and BW for business analytics, and advanced Excel functionalities to create dynamic reports and presentations.
- Competence in delivering compelling presentations to diverse stakeholders, facilitating clear understanding of project statuses and strategic initiatives.
