Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Role Overview
As part of the Mahindra Auto Accessories Business, Manager – Vehicle Design & Styling will be responsible for creating innovative exterior and interior design solutions for NU & Special Vehicle (SPV) Platforms. This role will play a key part in shaping the visual identity, functionality, and customer appeal of future vehicle concepts and production programs.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Design & Concept Development
Develop exterior and interior design concepts for NU & Special Vehicle platforms aligned with Mahindra's brand vision and product strategy.
Generate innovative styling themes that enhance vehicle aesthetics, functionality, and customer appeal.
Sketching & Visualization
Create high-quality 2D sketches, concept illustrations, and design presentations to communicate design intent.
Develop design proposals that effectively translate customer insights, market trends, and business requirements into compelling vehicle concepts.
3D Digital Modeling & Rendering
Create and support 3D digital models and renderings using industry-standard design tools.
Support CAS development activities and key design freeze milestones throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.
Engineering Feasibility & Integration
Coordinate closely with Product Development and Engineering teams to assess design feasibility and manufacturability.
Market & Trend Analysis
Research automotive design trends, emerging technologies, materials, and customer preferences to inform future design directions.
Contribute ideas that strengthen Mahindra’s design leadership and product differentiation in the market.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in automotive exterior and interior design.
- Proficiency in ALIAS, Rhino, and Photoshop.
- Excellent automotive sketching and visualization capabilities.
- Strong understanding of vehicle proportions, surfacing, packaging, and ergonomics.
- Experience in 3D design development and digital modeling workflows.
- Strong creativity combined with practical understanding of engineering feasibility.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
Education Qualification
Experience & Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in automotive design, vehicle styling, transportation design, or related fields.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree Industrial Design, Automotive Design, or a related discipline.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating exterior and/or interior vehicle design capabilities.
- Experience working on concept development, CAS modeling support, and production vehicle programs preferred.
