Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Role Overview

As part of the Mahindra Auto Accessories Business unit, Assistant Manager – Structural & Body Engineering will be responsible for driving structural and body engineering activities for New Utility (NU) platform programs. This role will focus on ensuring robust vehicle architecture, safety performance, body structure integrity, and engineering excellence throughout the product development lifecycle.

The incumbent will collaborate closely with design, vehicle engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver optimized body structures that meet performance, crashworthiness, durability, weight, and cost targets while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Structural & Body Engineering

  • Lead structural and body engineering activities for NU Platform programs, ensuring robust design solutions, seamless integration, and manufacturability.

Structural Analysis & Crash Performance

  • Conduct structural analysis including stiffness and crash performance reviews to validate safety and durability.

BIW Development & Validation

  • Manage Body-in-White (BIW) engineering sign-offs and support design reviews throughout product development.
  • Oversee dimensional validation activities to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, manufacturing requirements, and quality standards.

Weight Optimization & Material Engineering

  • Drive vehicle weight optimization initiatives while maintaining structural integrity and performance targets.
  • Support material selection activities, evaluating alternatives that balance performance, safety, cost, manufacturability, and sustainability objectives.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong expertise in structural engineering and Body-in-White (BIW) development.
  • Proficiency in CATIA for 3D modeling, packaging, and design validation.
  • Hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and crash simulations.

Strong knowledge of crash analysis methodologies and automotive safety requirements.

Education Qualification

Experience & Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of experience in structural engineering, BIW development, body engineering, or automotive product development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience working in automotive OEMs, engineering centers, or automotive component organizations preferred.
  • Exposure to structural simulation, crashworthiness development, and vehicle integration projects will be an advantage.
