Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • As the Deputy Manager for Engine Assembly, you will play a crucial role in driving cost management and operational excellence within the manufacturing line. Your primary responsibilities will include managing and optimising manpower costs by enhancing productivity and implementing stringent cost reduction strategies, specifically targeting scrap reduction, consumables management, and man-hour efficiencies.
  • You will lead and motivate the assembly manufacturing team to consistently meet and exceed performance targets relating to product quality, delivery timelines, cost controls, and safety standards (PQCDSM). This includes thorough departmental budget planning, ongoing monitoring, and reporting to ensure alignment with financial and operational objectives.
  • Critical to your role is the analysis of defect data and market complaint trends to swiftly develop and implement countermeasures, thereby improving product reliability and customer satisfaction. You will coordinate cross-functionally with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to facilitate continuous improvement and the seamless execution of new product introductions and mass production processes.
  • Further duties involve conducting detailed gap analyses to identify production losses, quality deficiencies, and equipment breakdowns, then orchestrating effective corrective actions. Synchronisation of parts across various models to ensure efficient assembly workflows will be essential.
  • Maintaining a positive work environment by managing daily manpower, resolving conflicts, and fostering a spirit of collaboration and continuous learning within your team is vital. You will also be responsible for adhering to and overseeing training programmes that elevate the skills and competencies of both workers and staff.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational foundation in engineering, preferably holding a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology specialising in Electrical and Electronics disciplines. This technical background equips you with the essential knowledge to effectively manage and innovate within the engine assembly domain.

Additional certifications or advanced studies related to manufacturing processes, quality management, or lean methodologies would be advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.

General Experience

A proven track record of leading teams to achieve operational excellence, managing cross-departmental coordination, and delivering results aligned with business goals is essential.

Experience in the automotive or heavy machinery manufacturing industries will be highly regarded, particularly within companies focused on engine production or similar complex assembly processes.

Exposure to lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks will strengthen your ability to succeed in this role.

Critical experience for this role includes expertise in assembly manufacturing leadership, particularly within engine or automotive sectors. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in driving productivity improvements and cost reduction initiatives at a production line level.
