Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The Paint Shop Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and optimizing painting processes to ensure high-quality finishes, cost efficiency, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The role involves working closely with production, maintenance, quality, and suppliers to improve paint shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Development & Optimization
• Design, develop, and implement paint application processes for new and existing products.
• Optimize paint shop layouts, process flow, and work methods to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Evaluate and introduce new paint technologies, application equipment, and automation solutions.
2. Equipment & Tooling Management
• Specify, procure, and validate paint shop equipment such as spray booths, ovens, conveyors, and robots.
• Plan preventive maintenance schedules to ensure reliable operations.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime.
3. Quality Assurance
• Establish and monitor process parameters to maintain paint quality standards (Corrosion, UV Resistance, gloss, adhesion, finish).
• Work with Quality teams to ensure compliance with OEM quality standards.
4. Cost & Efficiency Improvements
• Analyse paint material usage and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives to improve efficiency.
• Monitor paint shop KPIs such as cycle time and energy usage.
5. Safety & Environmental Compliance
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to VOCs, hazardous waste, and emissions.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety training for paint shop staff.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects with paint process feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with design teams to ensure paint-friendly part designs.
• Coordinate with suppliers for paint materials, consumables, and equipment.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Paint, Chemical Engineering or related field

7-10 Years

Critical Experience

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of paint application systems, Familiarity with paint booth ventilation, curing ovens, and robotic spray systems. Understanding   problem-solving tools. Paint Development and Validation process
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, communication & ability to work in Cross functional teams, Well verse with SAP System.
