Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As the Deputy Manager of Paint Shop Maintenance at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd within the Farm Division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring optimal performance and output of the PTCED line, overseeing all production-related activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring consistent quality and output of PTCED operations through diligent monitoring and proactive management.
- Identifying, analyzing, and controlling chemical and paint defects caused by process inefficiencies to improve product quality and reduce waste.
- Performing a variety of laboratory tests on materials and finished products to validate production standards and support quality assurance processes.
- Providing technical coordination and support to internal and external customers to address concerns and facilitate smooth operations.
- Monitoring and managing workforce attendance by planning and accommodating leave requests of cell members without impacting production schedules.
- Driving cost optimization initiatives by overseeing consumable items usage, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions such as Industry 4.0 ideas and Kaizens.
- Creating and fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes safety, engagement, and continuous improvement of the team.
- Maintaining the safety of paint shop equipment by monitoring safety interlocks and ensuring compliance with established protocols.
- Applying your hands-on experience in handling PTCED lines and sound knowledge of spray guns, pumps, blowers, and burners to support, troubleshoot, and optimize paint shop equipment.
- Diagnosing and resolving issues related to Electrodeposition (ED) and paint defects by leveraging your deep understanding of the manufacturing process and supplier quality standards.
- Implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles and quality tools to maintain equipment availability and reliability.
- Adhering to and promoting best practices in the manufacturing industry and contributing to continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity and quality.

Education Qualification
The ideal candidate will hold at minimum a Diploma in a relevant engineering field, with a strong preference for those possessing a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Your academic background should provide a solid foundation in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering principles, preparing you to manage complex paint shop maintenance tasks effectively.
Knowledge and coursework in quality management, manufacturing processes, and industrial safety will be highly beneficial. Continuous professional development and certifications related to paint technologies, maintenance management systems, or lean manufacturing techniques will be viewed favorably.

General Experience
You will bring between three to seven years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing settings, with specific exposure to paint shop operations or related industrial maintenance functions. This experience should demonstrate your capability to manage operational equipment, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement process improvements that enhance quality and efficiency.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and coordinating with cross-functional departments is essential to succeed in this role. Familiarity with customer service within manufacturing, specifically addressing internal and external customer requirements, will be an asset.
Proven experience in cost management, safety compliance, and application of quality control tools can significantly strengthen your candidacy. Practical knowledge in implementing Industry 4.0 initiatives and continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen and TPM will be considered advantageous.
Critical Experience
The selected candidate will demonstrate critical expertise in:
- Operational management of PTCED lines and comprehensive understanding of paint shop equipment including spray guns, pumps, blowers, and burners.
- In-depth troubleshooting and resolution of ED (Electrodeposition) and paint process defects, showcasing a robust diagnostic approach to maintain high product quality.
- Application of manufacturing principles and supplier process knowledge to deliver consistent production results and reduce defects.
- Mastering the implementation and management of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to ensure sustained machine uptime and operator effectiveness.
- Utilization of quality management tools such as statistical process control, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning to drive continuous quality improvements.
- Development and execution of cost-effective solutions for consumables and maintenance through innovative approaches aligned with Industry 4.0 technologies.
