Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail sales operations within the assigned territory, ensuring alignment with company targets and standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Retail Sales Management: Direct the full sales cycle from enquiry generation to test drives, booking, and final retail sales. Develop and implement activation plans that boost enquiry generation and enhance customer engagement.
- Conversion Optimization: Monitor and analyze conversion ratios at all stages, focusing on improving the quality and quantity of test drives and ensuring accurate, authentic booking and retail data.
- Performance Monitoring: Track achievement of sales targets in alignment with Vehicle Delivery Notes (VDN) and retail ratios, strategically plan sales activities for upcoming months, and adjust plans based on market trends and performance insights.
- Manpower Productivity & Development: Identify training and development needs for sales teams, facilitate impactful training programs, motivate team members through rewards and incentives, and ensure adherence to the sales narrative and company values.
- Digital Tool Adoption: Champion the integration and effective usage of digital engagement tools such as Test Drive Anytime Anywhere (TDAA), Personal Voice Assistant (PVA), Bring Showroom Home (BSH), Virtual Reality (VR), and tablets, to maximize customer engagement and increase conversion rates.
- Inventory and Working Capital Management: Oversee dealer working capital rotation, manage ageing stock through liquidation strategies, forecast demand to maintain optimal inventory for future months, and reduce outstanding market receivables to strengthen dealer financial health.
- Collaboration & Market Insights: Partner closely with marketing and customer experience teams to execute targeted activations, gather market intelligence, and implement continuous improvements that enhance customer satisfaction and drive business growth.

- Core Automotive or FMCG Sales Experience: A minimum of 3 to 8 years of progressively responsible experience in automotive sales or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors, characterized by a clear track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Proven Sales Management: Experience managing sales teams, driving sales strategies, and maintaining strong dealer and customer relationships to achieve business growth in competitive markets.
- Market Acumen: An in-depth understanding of consumer behaviour, market dynamics, and competitive landscape within the automotive or FMCG industries.
- Capability Building: Demonstrated skills in coaching and developing team members to enhance effectiveness and performance while fostering an inclusive and motivating workplace culture.
