Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As the Assistant Manager for Control Valve within our manufacturing department, you will be instrumental in leading and managing the grinding and honing processes to ensure the highest standards of production efficiency and product quality. Your role is pivotal in coordinating production schedules, implementing quality control measures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet and exceed production targets. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance to troubleshoot operational issues and identify process enhancements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising day-to-day manufacturing activities specifically related to control valve components, ensuring alignment with production plans.
  • Monitoring and enforcing stringent safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Conducting regular performance reviews and fostering skill development among team members to promote operational excellence.
  • Implementing Lean manufacturing principles and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices to optimize workflow efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Analyzing production data and metrics to drive decision-making and anticipate potential bottlenecks or quality issues.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure quality raw materials and timely delivery of components.
  • Driving innovation by supporting new process developments and technological upgrades within the grinding and honing departments.
  • Maintaining detailed system documentation and compliance with relevant quality management standards, including TS 16949 and OHSAS 18001.
  • Championing the continuous improvement culture by leading Kaizen events and facilitating employee engagement activities related to productivity and quality improvements.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will hold formal education credentials relevant to the mechanical or automotive engineering fields. Acceptable qualifications include:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Diploma in Automobile Engineering
  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Automobile Engineering

These qualifications establish a strong technical foundation necessary to understand manufacturing processes, machinery, and quality standards pertinent to control valve production. Candidates with additional certifications in quality management systems (such as ISO 9001 or TS 16949) or health and safety standards will be highly regarded, as these enhance the ability to maintain compliance and lead improvement initiatives effectively.

General Experience

The position requires candidates to have substantial industry experience to effectively manage manufacturing operations related to control valves. General experience expectations are as follows:

  • For candidates with a Bachelor of Technology degree, a minimum of 2 to 6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or production environments, preferably within the automotive or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • For diploma holders, 5 to 10 years of experience encompassing hands-on manufacturing operations, team supervision, and process quality management.

Experience should particularly include exposure to assembly, testing, and shop floor management to prepare candidates for the breadth of responsibilities this role entails. Candidates with a proven track record of driving productivity improvements, implementing quality assurance protocols, and leading employee development initiatives will be considered favourably.

Experience utilizing quality management systems (such as TS 16949), occupational safety management, and continuous improvement methodologies (including Lean and Six Sigma principles) is highly advantageous.

Critical Experience

In addition to general experience, critical experience requirements specify the essential competencies and sector-specific expertise needed to excel as an Assistant Manager in Control Valve manufacturing:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in process knowledge related to valve assembly, grinding, honing, and testing.
  • Strong command of quality management standards such as TS 16949, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, ensuring production adheres to international quality and safety standards.
  • Expert-level understanding of production management techniques, including PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
