Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As the Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager for Tractor Paint Maintenance, you will assume a critical role in managing and optimising the operational integrity of painting and allied mechanical equipment within our advanced manufacturing facilities. Your primary mission will be to ensure the seamless functionality of Mechanical Power Presses, Electric Overhead Traveling (EOT) cranes, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems integral to press operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems to minimise downtime and ensure peak operational efficiency.
- Apply and integrate cutting-edge Analytical Quality Control methodologies, adhering to ISO standards, to uphold and enhance manufacturing quality benchmarks.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives employing Kaizen processes, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), QC Story problem-solving techniques, Machinery Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (MFMEA), and advanced maintenance strategies such as Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) and Time-Based Maintenance (TBM).
- Regularly verify and adjust the critical geometric alignments of press machines, including parallelism and perpendicularity, to ensure manufacturing precision and excellence.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as Preventive Maintenance uptime, Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) across essential equipment including tryout and spotting presses, CNC machinery, overhead cranes, diesel generators, compressors, and forklifts.
- Strategically plan and optimize spare parts inventory by overseeing procurement, stock levels, and usage patterns to reduce lead times and enhance service continuity.
- Champion the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices focusing on the Preventive Maintenance pillar, fostering a culture of proactive equipment care and operational excellence.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align maintenance schedules with production goals and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Lead lifecycle management and contribute to sustainability initiatives by improving equipment reliability and energy efficiency in line with corporate goals.
This role requires a proactive leader who can anticipate maintenance needs, drive operational improvements, and maintain high standards of safety and quality within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

- A commitment to continuous professional development with ongoing training in emerging maintenance technologies and industry best practices is highly valued.
Strong theoretical knowledge paired with practical application skills in mechanical engineering principles will enable you to effectively manage and innovate maintenance strategies within the manufacturing environment.
General Experience
Candidates should bring comprehensive practical experience between 5 to 11 years in manufacturing industries, preferably within engine production, engineering, or automobile sectors. This experience should reflect increasing levels of responsibility and leadership in maintenance functions.
Essential General Experience:
- Hands-on expertise in the maintenance and troubleshooting of complex mechanical and electrical machinery, including CNC equipment and plant utilities such as cranes and compressors.
- Proven experience with preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies, ensuring optimal machinery availability and reliability.
- A solid understanding of spare parts logistics, encompassing planning and inventory management to support uninterrupted maintenance operations.
- Familiarity with adherence to manufacturing safety codes, quality standards, and regulatory compliance specific to the industry.
- Active participation or leadership in continuous improvement initiatives such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean practices to enhance operational efficiency.
This broad experience range equips the candidate to manage demanding maintenance schedules effectively while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet organisational objectives.
Critical Experience
We are seeking a candidate with deep and demonstrable expertise in specialised maintenance and quality assurance techniques that underpin this critical role within Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd's Farm Division.
Critical Experience Requirements:
- Extensive proficiency in deploying Analytical Quality Control tools and stringent ISO compliance protocols to maintain high-quality operational standards.
- Leadership and hands-on experience in executing Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), QC Story problem-solving approaches, and Machinery Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (MFMEA).
- Proven capabilities in managing Condition-Based and Time-Based Maintenance systems to optimise equipment health and reliability.
- Technical mastery in repairing and maintaining Mechanical Power Presses, Electric Overhead Traveling (EOT) cranes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems critical to press operations, as well as CNC machinery.
- Ability to ensure and audit mechanical precision, particularly in confirming and adjusting the parallelism and perpendicularity of press equipment to support manufacturing quality deliverables.
- Track record of strategising and overseeing maintenance activities that maximise Preventive Maintenance uptime, reduce Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and extend Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) for essential machinery and utilities including overhead cranes, diesel generators, compressors, and forklifts.
- Experience leading Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Preventive Maintenance pillar initiatives, along with expertise in managing spare parts inventories to eliminate operational bottlenecks and maintain production continuity.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory, and legal manufacturing requirements, with a demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, environmental sustainability, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated leadership in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, safety adherence, and sustainability aligned with corporate values and manufacturing best practices.
