Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As the Deputy Manager - Machining at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimising the machining processes within the Machine Shop of the Farm Division. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, coordinating, and managing machining operations to ensure efficient production workflows and high-quality output.
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process capabilities, reduce cycle times, and improve equipment utilisation.
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Planning, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure seamless production and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Monitoring and analysing machining parameters, tooling performance, and equipment conditions to proactively address operational issues.
  • Leading and mentoring the machining team to foster skill development, safety compliance, and a culture of excellence.
  • Ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations, and promoting best practices in workplace safety.
  • Utilising data-driven approaches and manufacturing technologies to optimise machining processes and drive innovation.

This role requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on experience in machining, enabling the Farm Division to meet its production targets effectively while maintaining superior product standards.

Experience

The ideal candidate will bring a robust background in machining within a manufacturing environment, including:

  • Proven experience in managing machining operations, preferably in heavy engineering or automotive sectors.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machines, tool setting, process planning, and metal cutting principles.
  • Experience in leading teams and driving operational excellence initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve machining efficiency and quality.
  • Proficiency with machining software, process simulation tools, and manufacturing data analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of troubleshooting complex machining issues.
  • Familiarity with industry 4.0 technologies and their application in machining processes is advantageous.

Industry Preferred

While candidates from a diverse range of industries are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with experience in:

  • Automotive manufacturing, specifically in machining or component manufacturing.
  • Agricultural equipment manufacturing or heavy machinery production.
  • Industrial machinery and machine shop operations within large-scale manufacturing enterprises.
  • Precision engineering sectors with a focus on machining and metalworking technology.

Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Advanced certifications in machining technologies, CNC programming, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma are highly desirable.
  • Proven leadership skills supported by project management or team management certifications.
  • Strong technical aptitude with continuous learning mindset and adaptability to emerging machining technologies.
