Deputy Manager - Machining

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- Oversee daily operations in the Machine Shop department, ensuring efficient machining processes aligned with production goals and quality standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams within the Manufacturing and Farm Division to optimize workflow, machine utilization, and resource allocation.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing machining accuracy, reducing cycle time, and minimizing waste through lean manufacturing techniques.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance within the machining area, fostering a safe and productive work environment.
- Evaluate machine performance and suggest upgrades or maintenance to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and technicians, facilitating skills development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Manage inventory of machining tools and materials to ensure availability and cost-effective usage.
- Prepare reports on machining operations, progress toward key performance indicators, and any deviations requiring corrective action for senior management.
Experience
- Proven experience in machining operations within a manufacturing environment, preferably in automotive or heavy machinery industries.
- Hands-on expertise with modern machining equipment, CNC programming, tooling, and metal cutting techniques.
- Track record of leading teams in a production-oriented setting, demonstrating strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
- Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO standards and ability to maintain compliance.
- Capability to analyze production data and utilize manufacturing software for process optimization.
Industry Preferred
Preferred candidates will have experience in industries such as automotive manufacturing, farm equipment production, heavy machinery fabrication, or related sectors with a strong manufacturing focus. Familiarity with high-volume machining shops that produce precision components and assemblies is highly valued.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Professional certifications in machining technology, Lean or Six Sigma are advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to machining operations and process improvements.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, metallurgy, and machining tool capabilities.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and manufacturing resource planning tools is desirable.
