Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a key member of the Vehicle PU team at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will manage the daily production operations to ensure targets are met without compromising on quality or safety. You will prioritise tasks efficiently, closely monitor BWT’s performance against established PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale) metrics, and devise action plans for continuous enhancement. You will handle customer concerns diligently, ensuring prompt resolution and sustained customer satisfaction.
Your commitment to adhering to the production schedule and training framework, aligned with the ILU matrix, will support skill development of the workforce and contribute to operational excellence. You will conduct detailed process audits, identify non-conformances, and lead root cause analysis with corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
A thorough understanding and application of MQW (Manufacturing Quality Work Instructions), MQS (Manufacturing Quality Standards), and MAPS (Manufacturing and Production Systems) guidelines will underpin your work to uphold quality rigorously. You will champion the implementation of Quality Management System (QMS) standards, Workplace Safety Standards (WSS), 5S methodology, IPMS (Integrated Performance Management System), and QDMS (Quality Data Management System).
In this role, you will prepare and maintain critical documents including Standard Operating Sheets (SOS), WSS manuals, and 5S standards, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety, 5S housekeeping, and Job Hazard analysis. You will oversee On-Line Equipment (OLE) records, swiftly troubleshoot and restore minor stoppages and breakdowns through Immediate Corrective Actions (ICA) or Preventive Corrective Actions (PCA), minimising downtime and ensuring smooth shop floor management.
Your responsibilities will also entail the timely disposal of non-conforming products and scrap, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimise production workflows and meet delivery deadlines will be essential, along with regular communication to update stakeholders on production status and improvement initiatives.
Additionally, you will engage in proactive risk assessments to prevent incidents, promote team engagement through continuous feedback, and contribute to a motivated, skilled workforce aligned with organisational goals.

To excel in this position, the ideal candidate will possess academic qualifications tailored for the precision and complexity of automotive manufacturing. This includes:
- Bachelor’s Degree: A Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or closely related disciplines, with a curriculum emphasising manufacturing processes, automotive systems, and quality management.
- Diploma Qualifications: Consideration will be given to candidates with a Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering, particularly those whose practical experience complements formal education and who demonstrate a strong grasp of manufacturing operations.

- Expertise in implementing, monitoring, and sustaining continuous improvement initiatives consistent with Lean Manufacturing and TPM methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Knowledge and practical application of ISO TS 9001:2008 quality management standards, encompassing audit participation, root cause investigation, and corrective action facilitation.
- Hands-on experience within vehicle assembly lines, demonstrating familiarity with pneumatics systems, electrical wiring, component fitting, sealing procedures, and overall systems integration critical to automotive manufacturing.
- Proficiency in quality control techniques, including utilisation of the Seven QC tools, Make Your Best (MYB) strategies, and Poka-Yoke error-proofing methods aimed at defect prevention and quality assurance.

- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Deep understanding and hands-on involvement in TPM practices to maximise equipment reliability and availability, leading to improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Technical Knowledge: Solid practical knowledge of pneumatic systems, electrical wiring methodologies, mechanical fitting, sealing technologies, and the integration of vehicle systems, ensuring production consistency and high-quality outputs.
- Quality Management Systems: Proficient in applying ISO TS 9001:2008 automotive quality standards on the shop floor, including executing audits, managing non-conformances, and driving continual quality improvements.
- Automation & Inspection Tools: Experience in designing or supervising the implementation of automated inspection solutions for new automotive body components, incorporating torque integrity checks, 1D and 3D geometric inspections, and Poka-Yoke techniques for error prevention.
- Quality Control Applications: Skilled in deploying quality assurance tools such as Make Your Best (MYB) and the Seven QC techniques to systematically analyse processes and reduce defect rates.
- Vehicle Component Assembly: Comprehensive understanding of automotive parts, assembly sequences, and production workflows vital for optimising manufacturing throughput and maintaining product excellence within a high-volume vehicle production unit.
