Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- As the Assistant Manager - Tractor Assembly at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will take on a leadership role managing a dedicated team comprising over 8 officers and more than 100 hands-on assembly workers. You will be responsible for orchestrating the design and reinforcement of advanced manufacturing systems and the integration of pioneering process technologies that secure a sustainable competitive edge in the tractor manufacturing industry.
- Your responsibilities involve implementing and championing cost optimisation initiatives and fostering innovations in product assembly methodologies aligned with the organisation's strategic imperatives. You will diligently monitor and scrutinise manufacturing KPIs to drive continuous productivity enhancements across the plant.
- A crucial component of the role is to lead the adoption and embedding of Lean Production System methodologies such as poke-yoke error prevention techniques, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), KAIZEN improvements, and other recognised process optimisation frameworks to cultivate a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- You will oversee robust Quality Assurance processes, aiming not only to meet but to exceed quality objectives, actively resolving customer complaints with comprehensive follow-through and detailed reporting. Ensuring compliance through meticulous management of internal and statutory audits, you will align operational practices with manufacturing standards and regulatory requirements across cross-functional teams.
- Collaboration and communication are pivotal as you coordinate effectively with multiple departments to seamlessly integrate quality, safety, and efficiency benchmarks into daily manufacturing activities. This role is firmly rooted within the Manufacturing division of the Farm Division business unit, specifically supporting the Tractor Assembly & Testing department, and does not involve travel.

The successful candidate will hold a solid educational foundation in engineering, ideally a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) specialising in Mechanical Engineering or possess an equivalent Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. This educational background provides the essential theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes crucial for effective Tractor Assembly leadership.

General Experience
Applicants should bring a minimum of 12 years of comprehensive experience in manufacturing settings, with a preference for those experienced within the automobile or tractor industries. This experience must demonstrate a progressive trajectory involving increased responsibilities, particularly in leading sizeable teams, streamlining manufacturing operations, and managing operational costs.
Proven expertise in implementing Lean manufacturing principles, enforcing rigorous quality assurance standards, and managing compliance with both internal and statutory audits is essential. The candidate must show familiarity with managing complex manufacturing ecosystems and driving the adoption of best practices that enhance productivity and quality outcomes.
Experience with multiplayer team coordination, fostering safety culture, and promoting employee engagement in continuous improvement initiatives will be instrumental for success in this role.
