Assistant Manager-Transmission Assembly

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Drive man cost control initiatives by enhancing productivity across the production line, ensuring efficient resource utilization aligned with budgetary goals.
  • Implement comprehensive cost reduction strategies targeting scrap, consumable materials, and manpower expenses to optimise operational efficiency.
  • Lead department budgeting processes, including meticulous planning, monitoring, and adjustment to meet financial and production targets.
  • Achieve and sustain SPR (Standard Performance Ratio) improvements exceeding 90% through continuous process enhancements and team engagement.
  • Conduct detailed defects data analysis to identify root causes and formulate robust corrective actions, ensuring reduction in quality-related incidents.
  • Manage market complaint analysis and resolution processes, coordinating with quality assurance teams to implement effective corrective and preventive measures.
  • Oversee the Assembly manufacturing team to ensure stringent adherence to PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale) controls, driving operational excellence.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between internal teams, external partners, and vendors to foster improvements in production processes, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Lead the establishment of new products and supervise their transition into mass production, ensuring compliance with quality and production standards.
  • Develop and adhere to comprehensive training schedules for workers and staff, focused on skill enhancement, safety, and quality awareness.
  • Engage in daily manpower management by effectively resolving conflicts and fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and motivation.
  • Regularly review and inspire the team by assessing work performance, providing constructive feedback, and promoting continuous professional development.
  • Perform gap analysis addressing production losses, quality deviations, and equipment breakdowns, implementing targeted action plans for improvement.
  • Manage synchronization of parts supply and assembly coordination across different tractor models to ensure seamless production flow.
  • Champion the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement within the Transmission Assembly division.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety and environmental consciousness.

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology, preferably in Electrical and Electronics or a closely related field, from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced certifications in manufacturing process control, quality management, or project management are advantageous.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development through workshops, seminars, and relevant industry training to remain current with technological advancements.
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles applicable to manufacturing and assembly processes within the automotive or heavy machinery industry.
  • Proven understanding of production budgeting, cost control, and quality assurance methodologies.

General Experience

  • Minimum of 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, production, or assembly with a focus on heavy machinery or automotive components.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing production teams, optimizing productivity, and leading continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient understanding of assembly line operations, cost reduction techniques, and defect analysis methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating cross-departmental projects and collaborating effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Exposure to new product development cycles and mass production implementation phases within a manufacturing setting.
  • Established track record of adhering to and promoting safety standards and compliance within production facilities.

Critical Experience

  • In-depth knowledge and proven expertise in transmission assembly and manufacturing processes, specifically within tractor or heavy vehicle production.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing cost control measures that yield significant reductions in scrap, consumables, and labor overheads.
  • Strong capability in conducting and interpreting defects data analysis to formulate effective countermeasures and enhance product quality.
  • Proficient in leading and motivating assembly teams to achieve PQCDSM metrics while meeting stringent delivery schedules.
  • Experience with departmental budget planning, monitoring, and adjustments to meet evolving production demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage new product establishment projects, ensuring smooth transition and scale-up for mass production.
  • Expertise in gap analysis related to production downtime, quality losses, and operational breakdowns with a focus on actionable resolutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills to coordinate improvements with internal departments, vendors, and external partners ensuring seamless manufacturing operations.
