Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As an Assistant Manager in the Paint Shop at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will have a central role in leading and supervising the Paint Transfer Coating Electro-Deposition (PTCED) operations to ensure exceptional output quality and production efficiency. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Controlling and mitigating CED and paint defects by implementing robust process controls and leading comprehensive troubleshooting efforts to uphold stringent quality standards.
  • Overseeing and conducting critical laboratory tests essential for guaranteeing the quality of PTCED processes, ensuring all parameters meet or exceed industry benchmarks.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal teams and external customers to provide specialized technical support and swiftly resolve paint quality and process-related issues.
  • Managing workforce attendance, monitoring absenteeism trends, and meticulously planning leave schedules to maintain uninterrupted production workflows.
  • Driving cost optimisation initiatives concerning consumables, including tracking resource utilization, identifying areas for improvement, and spearheading continuous improvement projects such as Kaizens and Innovation for Industry (I4) ideas.
  • Cultivating a safe and productive work environment by vigilantly monitoring safety interlocks on paint shop equipment and promoting adherence to best safety practices among all team members.
  • Demonstrating hands-on expertise in managing PTCED line operations and comprehensive knowledge of paint shop equipment including, but not limited to, spray guns, pumps, blowers, and burners to ensure operational excellence.
  • Applying Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles and advanced quality management tools to enhance process reliability, equipment uptime, and product quality.
  • Keeping abreast of emerging industry trends and best practices to introduce innovative methods that continuously elevate the performance standards within the paint shop.
  • Providing leadership and mentoring to team members to foster a culture of quality awareness, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.

General Experience

The ideal candidate will possess between 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience within manufacturing environments, specifically with a focus on paint shop operations, electro-deposition processes, or related manufacturing domains. This experience range allows for the development of both technical skills and leadership capabilities essential for managing complex production lines.

Candidates should demonstrate proven experience in production coordination, conducting and overseeing laboratory testing to ensure product quality, and driving process improvements that lead to increased efficiency and defect reduction.   • Track record of ensuring strict adherence to safety standards, including the upkeep and monitoring of safety interlocks on production equipment to prevent accidents and ensure operator wellbeing.
  • Experienced in team management functions such as attendance control, leave planning, and fostering an engaged workforce to maintain high levels of productivity and morale within the production cell.
