Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- Plan, organise, and oversee facilities, tools, and fixture requirements for new variant projects within vehicle assembly, ensuring alignment with the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) framework.
- Lead procurement and installation activities for new vehicle variants, coordinating cross-functionally to facilitate seamless integration into existing assembly lines.
- Design and implement robust processes for the introduction of new products and models into the vehicle assembly line, focussing on efficiency, quality, and compliance.
- Develop comprehensive budgets addressing facility requirements, tooling, and equipment acquisition; monitor expenditures to maintain fiscal responsibility.
- Conduct detailed reviews of Process Change Request Notices (PCRN) and Product Deviation Request Notices (PDRN) to evaluate, approve and track the implementation status as per defined checklists for designated shops.
- Coordinate Design Change Proposal (DCP) reviews as necessary, ensuring readiness for process audits and alignment with quality standards within assigned shops.
- Address and resolve line process challenges, field-related issues, and quality non-conformances proactively, deploying effective root cause analysis and corrective measures.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and work content reduction within existing vehicle assembly workflows to enhance productivity, reduce cycle time, and optimise resource utilisation.
- Prepare and revise layouts for manufacturing cells and workshop floors to maximise space utilisation and process flow, thereby contributing to overall operational excellence.
- Ensure that all facilities and equipment designs comply with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) guidelines to maintain quality and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams including Quality, Production, and Supplier Engineering to harmonise product and process changes.
- Continuously monitor emerging technologies and industry best practices to propose innovative solutions that drive sustainable process advancements.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation reflecting progress, challenges, and recommendations related to process engineering initiatives.

Education Qualification
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. A strong foundational knowledge in mechanical principles, manufacturing processes, and assembly technologies is essential to effectively design and improve vehicle assembly processes.
Additional certifications or training in Project Management (such as PMP) and Quality Management Systems (such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing) will be highly regarded for supporting process optimisation and change management activities.
Continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in automotive manufacturing techniques, industry standards, and compliance criteria is encouraged and supported.
General Experience
Applicants should have between three to six years of progressive experience in manufacturing or engineering roles, preferably within the automotive or heavy machinery industries.
Demonstrated experience working in vehicle assembly or related manufacturing environments is crucial, with a proven track record of managing facility modifications, process implementation, and equipment procurement.
Proficient knowledge in quality control methodologies and change management processes will empower the candidate to effectively contribute to the assembly line enhancements and compliance adherence.
Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential to engage with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers, ensuring alignment and successful project outcomes.
Experience with the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and familiarity with industry standards will significantly benefit the execution of responsibilities.
Critical Experience
- Direct experience in central process engineering for tractor or heavy vehicle assembly lines, involving hands-on implementation of new product variants and process modifications.
- Expertise in conducting process audits, handling design change proposals, and managing process change request notices to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
- Demonstrated success in coordinating the procurement and commissioning of fixtures, tools, and equipment tailored to specific vehicle assembly requirements.
- Proven ability to drive productivity improvements through lean manufacturing principles, waste reduction strategies, and ergonomic process design.
- Technical proficiency with CAD tools, process simulation software, and project management platforms to support design validation and planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in resolving field concerns, quality issues, and assembly line bottlenecks effectively.
- Experience working within a structured quality environment compliant with APQP and PPAP standards, contributing to high-quality production outputs.
- Skills in budget preparation, resource allocation, and vendor management to ensure projects are delivered on time and within financial parameters.
