Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

The role of Deputy Manager in Paint PU Maintenance is crucial within Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd's Automotive Division, focusing on maintaining and optimising paint booth equipment and associated systems to ensure efficient production workflows. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of paint booth equipment such as Air Supply Units (ASU) and exhaust systems to maintain optimal environmental conditions and safety standards.
  • Managing and servicing critical mechanical components including blowers, pumps, valves, and conveyor systems (roller beds, chain conveyors), ensuring uninterrupted material flow throughout the painting process.
  • Overseeing the integration and smooth functioning of robotics and automation systems involved in painting operations, enabling precision and consistency.
  • Maintaining compressors and chillers, vital for temperature and pressure control within paint applications, minimising downtime.
  • Supervising the operation and maintenance of paint guns and paint mixing equipment, ensuring accuracy in paint application and mixture consistency.
  • Handling hydraulic and pneumatic systems while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational reliability.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as quality assurance and production planning, to align maintenance activities with production schedules and quality standards.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives targeted at enhancing equipment reliability, reducing maintenance costs, and driving operational excellence.
  • Documenting maintenance procedures and recording service histories to support compliance and facilitate knowledge sharing.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will possess a formal educational background in engineering, preferably holding a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related Bachelor of Technology degree. This qualification supports a solid understanding of complex electrical and mechanical systems pertinent to paint unit maintenance.

Additional certifications or training related to industrial maintenance, automation systems, and safety standards are advantageous and reflective of a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in interpreting technical documentation, schematics, and operational manuals relevant to paint booth systems and associated machinery.

Commitment to continuous learning in emerging technologies within manufacturing and maintenance will be essential for staying abreast of sector innovations and improving departmental performance.

General Experience

The candidate should have between 2 to 8 years of general experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with direct exposure to maintenance operations. Experience within automotive manufacturing or a similarly complex production setting will be highly beneficial.

The role demands hands-on experience in maintaining and servicing heavy-duty mechanical and automated equipment, including an awareness of safety and environmental regulations within production facilities.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, communicate across departments, and contribute to strategic maintenance planning is essential.

Prior experience with performance monitoring tools, maintenance scheduling software, and quality control procedures will help the applicant to excel in this role.

Critical Experience

Critical experience for this position includes proven expertise in handling paint booth equipment such as Air Supply Units (ASU) and exhaust systems, ensuring they function within optimal parameters to support high-quality paint application and operator safety.

Extensive knowledge and operational experience with mechanical components like blowers, pumps, valves, and conveyor systems (including roller beds and chain conveyors) is required to manage maintenance activities effectively.

In-depth understanding of robotic and automation processes in manufacturing, with the capability to diagnose and resolve issues rapidly, is expected.

Experience with compressed air systems, including compressors and chillers, as well as paint application technology including paint guns and mixing equipment, is fundamental to this role.
