Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As the Deputy Manager - Production (Engine) within the Engine Assembly and Testing department, you will oversee the entire assembly process of tractor engines, ensuring that production targets are met with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your role encompasses supervising daily operations, coordinating with cross-functional teams for smooth workflow, and implementing continuous improvement methodologies to enhance assembly line productivity.
Key deliverables include:
- Managing and optimizing engine assembly workflows to meet production schedules
- Ensuring rigorous quality control throughout the engine assembly and testing phases
- Leading the troubleshooting and resolution of any production or technical challenges
- Maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations within the manufacturing unit
- Collaborating with design and engineering teams to implement design changes or improvements effectively into production
- Mentoring and developing the production team to foster skill growth and operational excellence
- Driving the implementation of lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and enhance operational efficiency
Experience
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in production management within engine assembly, ideally in the automotive or tractor manufacturing sector. Proven expertise in overseeing complex assembly lines, ensuring stringent quality standards, and working within high-volume manufacturing environments is essential.
Preferred experience includes:
- Hands-on experience in the assembly and testing of diesel or petrol tractor engines
- Strong knowledge of production planning, resource allocation, and manpower management
- Experience with process improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Lean Manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance departments
- Track record of successfully meeting production deadlines without compromising quality and safety
Prior engagement with engine performance testing equipment and familiarity with industry-standard testing practices is a strong advantage.
Industry Preferred
This role is best suited for candidates with a background in the manufacturing or agriculture machinery industry, particularly those experienced in tractor or heavy equipment engine assembly and testing.

- Additional certifications in production management, quality control, or process improvement methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean) would be advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to manufacturing and assembly processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills supported by technical knowledge relevant to engine assembly and testing
