Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As the Deputy Manager - Tractor Assembly at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will lead and inspire a robust team of over 8 officers and more than 100 skilled personnel to achieve operational excellence within the Tractor Assembly & Testing department. Your core responsibilities will include establishing and continuously refining efficient manufacturing systems and adopting advanced technologies that provide sustainable competitive advantages in the rapidly evolving tractor manufacturing industry.
You will champion operational cost reduction initiatives by analyzing existing processes and implementing innovative solutions, thereby optimizing resource utilization without compromising quality. Your leadership will be pivotal in introducing and scaling new product process technologies tailored to enhance plant productivity. Targeted improvement initiatives will focus on critical manufacturing performance indicators, driving measurable gains in efficiency and throughput.
Engagement in Lean Production System principles will be essential, where you will facilitate deployment, monitor progress, and lead continuous improvement efforts. You will oversee rigorous internal and statutory audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and corporate policies, maintaining a culture of quality and safety across all operational facets.
Quality assurance is a critical component of your role, involving the management and enhancement of QA processes to meet stringent quality objectives. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will develop and execute effective action plans addressing customer complaints, ensuring rapid resolution, transparent follow-up, and comprehensive reporting.
Utilizing industry best practices and proven tools such as poka-yoke (error-proofing), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Kaizen, you will drive continuous operating efficiency. Your strategic insight will foster innovation and agility, ensuring that the tractor assembly operations not only meet but exceed performance goals, positioning Mahindra as a market leader in manufacturing excellence.

Education Qualification
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational foundation in engineering or related technical fields, essential for understanding complex manufacturing processes and product specifications.
- Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from a recognised university or institute.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical certification will also be considered, provided the candidate demonstrates extensive relevant experience and capabilities in manufacturing operations.
- Additional certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Quality Management Systems (such as ISO/TS 16949) are highly preferred and beneficial.
- Ongoing commitment to professional development through workshops, seminars, or further education is encouraged, fostering continuous learning and skill enhancement.
General Experience
Applicants are expected to bring substantial industrial experience to this role, enabling effective leadership and deep operational insights within the agricultural machinery manufacturing domain.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, ideally within the tractor, automobile, or heavy machinery industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing large teams and complex assembly lines with a focus on output quality and efficiency.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing Lean Production Systems, cost reduction strategies, and quality assurance protocols.
- Experience in conducting and managing audits, both internal and statutory, to ensure compliance to regulatory and corporate standards.
- Strong background in customer complaint resolution and quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as OHSAS 18001 and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
