Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As Deputy Manager - Transmission FD ZHB at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will hold key responsibilities to ensure excellence in transmission assembly and testing for our farm division. Your primary deliverables will encompass:
- Applying robust knowledge of transmission assembly techniques, testing protocols, and performance benchmarks to meet and exceed production targets.
- Driving consistent results aligned with production volume, product quality, cost efficiency, and exceptional customer satisfaction, both internally and externally.
- Leading, supporting, and mentoring team members and peers to promote skill development, multi-skilling, and innovative problem-solving within the production cell.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Planning, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance to synchronize efforts and deliver production and quality commitments.
- Maintaining transparent and effective communication channels with team members to foster a positive, healthy, and engaged work environment.
- Ensuring workplace safety, employee morale, and wellbeing following company and statutory health and safety regulations.
- Overseeing and upholding rigorous system documentation aligned with TS 16949 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety standards.
- Championing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices and facilitating active employee participation in continuous improvement initiatives such as Ongoing Improvement Teams (OIT), Cross-functional Improvement Teams (CIT), Kaizens, and other lean methodologies.
- Leading process development and optimization projects focused on enhancing productivity, quality, timely delivery, and cost reduction, all while maintaining a strong customer-centric focus.
- Possessing a thorough understanding of emission norms including Tier 3, Tier 4, and BS4 standards affecting transmission performance parameters, and applying this knowledge to ensure compliance and optimization.
- Supporting management in daily shop floor activities to ensure smooth operational workflows and adherence to organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will possess formal qualifications in mechanical or automobile engineering disciplines. Acceptable educational credentials include:

- Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Automobile Engineering

General Experience
The position requires candidates with a solid track record in engineering or manufacturing roles within automobile or manufacturing sectors, demonstrating progressive experience at operational and supervisory levels. Preferred experience parameters include:
- For candidates holding a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech): 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in mechanical or automobile engineering roles.
- For candidates possessing a Diploma: 7 to 10 years of proven expertise in transmission manufacturing, assembly, or related operations.
The ideal applicant will have honed their skills in an environment demanding precision, adherence to quality norms, and effective team coordination, preparing them to address complex challenges in transmission assembly and testing.
Exposure to multidisciplinary teams and cross-functional project environments is also highly beneficial, given the collaborative nature of the role.
Critical Experience
Critical experience necessary for excelling in this Deputy Manager role includes, but is not limited to:
- In-depth understanding of transmission assembly processes, testing methodologies, and performance evaluation techniques specific to agricultural or heavy machinery transmissions.
- Hands-on experience with production management focused on meeting or exceeding PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety & Morale) metrics in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, foster skill enhancement initiatives such as multi-skilling programs, and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Demonstrable success in TPM deployment and enhancing equipment reliability through preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
- Experience working within frameworks governed by ISO and OHSAS standards, including maintaining accurate system documentation and ensuring compliance.
- Track record of successful collaboration with supply chain, planning, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to synchronize production efforts and drive operational efficiencies.
- Competence in interpreting and applying emission norms and regulatory requirements relevant to transmissions, such as Tier 3, Tier 4, and BS4 norms, with a focus on environmental sustainability and customer satisfaction.
