Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Oversee daily production activities to ensure alignment with the planned schedule, optimizing workflow and minimizing delays across the Tractor Assembly & Testing line.
  • Drive a quality-first approach by promptly addressing and resolving any quality issues, ensuring zero hold-up at the end of the production line.
  • Maintain efficient and clear communication channels with supporting departments, including stores, maintenance, and quality control, to facilitate swift issue resolution and continuous process improvement.
  • Coordinate with relevant agencies to monitor and close all incident reports and related production issues, fostering accountability and prompt action.
  • Lead the implementation of new models, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Engineering Release (ER) on the tractor production line, ensuring comprehensive documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), manifests, and On-the-Job Training (OJT) materials are prepared and maintained.
  • Ensure thorough Daily Work Management (DWM) for respective shifts, monitoring all Product Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale (PQCDSM) parameters, and initiate timely corrective actions to sustain performance standards.
  • Meet and exceed Akraman targets, focusing on cost-saving initiatives, continuous improvement through One Improvement Team (OIT) and Cross-functional Improvement Team (CIT) activities, and delivering quality through QC stories.
  • Address and resolve stockyard management issues, gate audits, Daily Production Reports (DPR), card-related resource planning, and prevent line stoppages by proactive management and coordination.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of standards related to Technical Standards (TS), Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Automotive Functional Safety Management (AFSM) to ensure compliance during audits.
  • Monitor usage of consumables and store items, driving strategies to reduce wastage and optimize inventory levels during production processes.
  • Work closely with Industrial Engineering Executives (IEE) to quickly resolve line balancing challenges, ensuring optimal crew utilization and balanced workloads.
  • Proactively participate in innovation initiatives, championing projects across A+, A, and B categories to foster continuous process and product enhancements within the department.
  • Commit to the training and development of team members, aligning skill enhancements with organizational requirements and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering, or alternatively, a Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering. This foundational education provides the essential theoretical and practical knowledge required for the complexities of tractor assembly and production management.

Additional certifications or specialized training in production management, quality control, or lean manufacturing methodologies will be considered advantageous and support the candidate’s ability to drive process improvements effectively.

General Experience

The preferred candidate will bring 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly within the heavy machinery, automotive, or agricultural equipment sectors. This experience should encompass hands-on roles involving production line supervision, quality control, and process optimization.

Experience working with cross-functional teams such as maintenance, quality assurance, industrial engineering, and supply chain is essential to ensure seamless coordination and achievement of production targets.

Demonstrated expertise in managing production schedules, resolving line stoppages, and driving initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and cost savings is highly valued. Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements related to safety, quality, and environmental considerations enriches the candidate’s capability to contribute effectively.

Critical Experience

Critical experience for this role includes proven capabilities in managing tractor or heavy equipment assembly lines with direct responsibility for meeting production plans and quality standards.

  • Proficiency with Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP), Engineering Release (ER) procedures, and documentation management such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) programs.
  • Strong track record in resolving cross-departmental challenges involving stores, maintenance, quality control, and reporting functions to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, cost savings, delivery schedules, health and safety regulations, and workforce morale (PQCDSM).
  • Capability to actively engage in innovation projects, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at category A+, A, and B level advancements.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as Technical Standards (TS), OHSAS, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Automotive Functional Safety Management (AFSM), enabling confident audit readiness.
  • Leadership experience in training, mentoring, and developing production team members to align skillsets with evolving organizational needs.
