Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a Deputy Manager in Buying for the Farm Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be instrumental in sustaining and optimizing our inventory levels to ensure smooth operations across our manufacturing facilities. Your responsibilities will include monitoring and maintaining agreed-upon inventory thresholds to facilitate a consistent flow of raw materials and components from suppliers to production units.
You will actively contribute to the planning of inventory, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define optimal inventory levels and adjustment protocols. Ensuring compliance with company policies and industry-best practices will be central to your role, alongside implementing effective loss prevention measures to safeguard material assets.
Coordination with manufacturing and procurement departments will be vital to align inventory management efforts with production schedules and purchasing strategies. You will have oversight of the day-to-day activities of the Material Logistics & Liaison (MLL) staff, providing leadership and guidance to ensure performance standards are met.
Key deliverables include:
- Developing and maintaining inventory forecasts in line with production demands and supply chain capabilities.
- Identifying potential risks in inventory supply and executing mitigation strategies.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy and reduce downtime due to material shortages.
- Maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure timely deliveries and negotiate favorable terms.
- Reporting inventory status and analytics to senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
This role requires a proactive approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to ensure operational excellence.

Education Qualification
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree, preferably with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering, which provides a robust foundation for understanding manufacturing processes and materials management in an automotive context.
Additional certifications or training in supply chain management, procurement strategies, or inventory control will be advantageous and can contribute to enhanced effectiveness in this role.

General Experience
We seek candidates with 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, procurement, or inventory control, preferably within the automotive industry or a closely related manufacturing sector.
Your experience should demonstrate a strong grasp of inventory planning, supplier coordination, and operational logistics, with a track record of effectively managing materials flow to support manufacturing processes.
Experience leading or managing teams responsible for material logistics, buyer operations, or inventory control is beneficial, highlighting leadership qualities and the ability to drive team performance in alignment with company objectives.
Familiarity with ERP systems, inventory management software, and data analysis tools will be advantageous for efficient execution of daily responsibilities.
Critical Experience
Critical to your success in this position will be proven expertise in inventory management and procurement within the automotive sector, where precision and timing are paramount to avoid production disruptions.
Demonstrated capability in planning and maintaining optimal inventory levels, including the authority to adjust stock thresholds based on market dynamics and operational needs, is essential.
Strong experience in coordinating across manufacturing and procurement teams to synchronize material supply with production schedules will be a key requirement.
You should have a history of implementing and enforcing compliance with inventory policies, as well as loss prevention procedures designed to minimize waste and inefficiency.
Leadership experience, especially managing staff engaged in material logistics or buyer functions, is crucial to ensure team effectiveness and development.
An understanding of strategic business orientation principles, including global mindset and sustainability drivers relevant to the agricultural and automotive domain, will support integration with Mahindra's leadership competencies.
