Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • As a Graduate Apprentice Trainee in the PU Maintenance & Plant Engineering department, you will support the maintenance and reliability of manufacturing equipment, utilities, and plant infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted production operations. Your responsibilities will include assisting in preventive and breakdown maintenance activities, maintaining maintenance records, and supporting the monitoring of equipment performance and operational efficiency.
  • You will work closely with Maintenance, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to identify equipment-related issues, support root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and plant productivity. The role will provide exposure to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and utility systems used in manufacturing operations.
  • You will participate in maintenance planning, equipment inspections, installation and commissioning activities, safety reviews, and energy conservation initiatives. Additionally, you will support the implementation of TPM, 5S, and lean manufacturing practices while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Through hands-on learning and training programs, you will develop technical expertise in maintenance engineering, troubleshooting, and plant operations management.

Education Qualification

  • Graduates holding a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Production Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • The educational background should demonstrate a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including maintenance engineering, machine design, manufacturing processes, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial automation, and engineering drawing. Candidates should possess a strong interest in industrial maintenance and plant engineering functions.
  • Fresh graduates with consistent academic performance and participation in technical projects, internships, industrial training, or extracurricular activities related to maintenance, utilities, automation, manufacturing systems, or plant operations will be preferred.

General Experience

  • Basic understanding of maintenance and manufacturing processes gained through academic projects, internships, industrial training, or practical exposure, with a willingness to learn and grow in a shop-floor environment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance practices, equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance concepts, engineering drawings, safety standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); exposure to CAD software, maintenance management systems, PLCs, automation systems, or data reporting tools will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and adapt to a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Critical Experience

  • The critical experience essential for success in this role includes a strong academic foundation in core engineering subjects such as maintenance engineering, machine design, manufacturing processes, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial automation, reliability engineering, and quality management principles.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated the application of engineering concepts through laboratory work, technical projects, internships, or industrial training involving equipment maintenance, utilities management, troubleshooting, automation systems, or plant operations. Such exposure will provide a practical understanding of maintenance practices and manufacturing support functions.
  • Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to diagnose and resolve equipment-related issues are essential. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices, TPM methodologies, root cause analysis, 5S principles, workplace safety standards, and energy management concepts will support effective contribution from the outset.
  • Additionally, candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling productive collaboration with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams while contributing to Mahindra's commitment to operational excellence, asset reliability, safety, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
