Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Graduate Apprentice Trainee in the Process Engineering department, you will support the development, optimization, and standardization of manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Your responsibilities will include assisting in process planning, line balancing, cycle time studies, process documentation, and implementation of manufacturing best practices.

You will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to analyze existing processes, identify improvement opportunities, and support the implementation of process enhancement initiatives. The role will provide exposure to process validation, work instruction preparation, capacity planning, layout optimization, and lean manufacturing methodologies.

You will participate in continuous improvement projects, root cause analysis activities, productivity improvement initiatives, and process audits while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards. Through hands-on learning and structured training, you will develop expertise in manufacturing process design, operational excellence, and industrial engineering practices.

Education Qualification

Graduates holding a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related disciplines.

The educational background should demonstrate a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, industrial engineering principles, production systems, quality management, materials science, engineering drawing, and process optimization techniques. Candidates should possess a strong interest in manufacturing excellence and process improvement.

Fresh graduates with consistent academic performance and participation in technical projects, internships, industrial training, or extracurricular activities related to manufacturing, process engineering, industrial engineering, productivity improvement, or quality systems will be preferred.

General Experience

Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, industrial engineering concepts, and process improvement methodologies gained through academic projects, internships, industrial training, or practical exposure.
Familiarity with process documentation, engineering drawings, production workflows, quality systems, time studies, lean manufacturing principles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); exposure to CAD software, process simulation tools, ERP systems, or data analysis applications will be an added advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and work in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Critical Experience

The critical experience essential for success in this role includes a strong academic foundation in manufacturing processes, industrial engineering, production technology, quality management, operations management, and process optimization principles.

Candidates should have demonstrated the application of these concepts through academic projects, laboratory work, internships, industrial training, or practical assignments involving process improvement, productivity enhancement, manufacturing systems, line balancing, work measurement, or quality initiatives. Such exposure will provide a practical understanding of process engineering functions within a manufacturing environment.

Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to evaluate manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements are essential. Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools, 5S principles, root cause analysis, process mapping, capacity planning, and continuous improvement methodologies will enable effective contribution from the outset.

Additionally, candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling productive collaboration with cross-functional teams while contributing to Mahindra's commitment to operational excellence, product quality, cost optimization, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
