Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Production - Vehicle PU professional at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will be responsible for the effective daily management of production operations ensuring alignment with set targets and priorities. This will involve continuous monitoring of BWT (Batch-Wise Tracking) performance focusing on PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale) metrics. You will identify opportunities to enhance BWT performance and implement best practices to drive operational excellence.

Your role will include ensuring strict adherence to production schedules to meet customer and business demands while maintaining a seamless workflow on the shop floor. You will address and resolve internal and external customer concerns promptly, ensuring sustained improvements and customer satisfaction.

Maintaining and improving workforce skills will be critical, achieved through compliance with the ILU (Individual Learning Unit) training matrix and actively participating in skill development initiatives. Conducting process audits, identifying non-conformities, and ensuring closure through robust corrective actions will be part of your quality assurance responsibilities.

You are expected to deeply understand and execute guidelines related to MQW (Manufacturing Quality Week), MQS (Manufacturing Quality Standards), and MAPS (Mahindra Automotive Production System) to uphold operational best practices.

Quality management will be a key area, including adherence to systems such as Quality Management Systems (QMS), Work Standard Sheets (WSS), 5S methodology for workplace organisation, Integrated Production Management System (IPMS), and Quality Defect Management System (QDMS). Your contribution will involve preparing and maintaining critical documentation such as SOS (Standard Operating Sheets), WSS documents, and 5S standards, ensuring compliance and continual improvement.

You will proactively identify improvement opportunities in Work Standard Sheets (WSS), Job Hazard (JH) analyses, and 5S workplace organisation practices, while ensuring that all workplace safety standards are consistently met and promoted.

Operational Line Efficiency (OLE) records will need to be meticulously maintained, with swift restoration of minor stoppages and breakdowns using Immediate Corrective Actions (ICA) and Preventive Corrective Actions (PCA) to minimise production disruption and prevent recurrence.

Your role will also encompass comprehensive shop floor management by leading teams, coordinating with cross-functional departments, and ensuring timely disposal of non-conforming products and scrap, thereby maintaining product quality and cost efficiency.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology degree specialising in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent Diploma qualification with relevant manufacturing experience. This educational background equips you with the fundamental technical knowledge necessary for understanding complex production processes, machinery, and manufacturing systems inherent to vehicle production.

We value continuous learning and encourage candidates who have pursued additional certifications or training relevant to Manufacturing Excellence, Quality Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or Lean Production methodologies.

This position demands a technical foundation strong enough to interpret engineering specifications, production workflows, and quality standards effectively, ensuring that engineering principles and manufacturing practices are applied aptly on the shop floor.

General Experience

Applicants should possess between 3 to 7 years of professional experience within manufacturing or automotive sectors, specifically in environments involving process optimisation, production planning, and quality assurance. This experience range ensures depth in practical operations management, familiarity with production challenges, and a proven track record of meeting production targets.

Previous roles should include significant exposure to shop floor management, adherence to strict production schedules, and experience in handling quality compliance processes including audits and implementation of corrective actions.

The ability to manage cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and handle stakeholder expectations in a structured manufacturing environment is imperative. Experience working within frameworks such as OHSAS 18001, safety management systems, and Lean manufacturing principles will be highly beneficial.

Exposure to automotive production processes and systems such as MQS and MAPS or equivalent will further enhance your effectiveness in this role, allowing you to contribute to Mahindra & Mahindra’s commitment to quality and operational excellence.

Critical Experience

Critical experience for this role includes proven competencies in Facility Management and Quality Compliance within high-volume manufacturing settings. You should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of occupational health and safety standards, specifically OHSAS 18001 or equivalent frameworks, to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

Hands-on experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices is essential, enabling you to lead initiatives that improve machine availability and production reliability. Expertise in operations management, resource allocation, staffing strategies, and performance management will be crucial for driving productivity and maintaining high-quality standards.

Strong team development and leadership skills are required, as you will be entrusted with managing and motivating teams, fostering a culture of accountability, and promoting continuous improvement and skill development.

Proficiency in stakeholder management, including communication with internal departments, suppliers, and customers, will be essential to facilitate smooth operations and resolve issues effectively.

This role demands a results-driven individual with the ability to operate with agility and discipline, manage risk responsibly, and champion innovative solutions.
